Default Need input on purchase I will be making tonight

I intend on buying my first kit and was going to pick up the SCX10 II tonight. I am an aerospace electronics repair technician and previously a certified auto technician so im not worried about skill level. I would like to know if in your opinion this is the best kit truck under $500 out currently for this style of driving? I have a Slash and Rock Rey for bashing and rock racing, I'm looking to build a kit and would like to set up a rock course in the backyard this summer with a few trails. Thanks for any input!

It will be perfect. Very capable and well outfitted machine in kit form, and can be customized later into whatever you want.

It is a little smaller than your Rock Rey...if you like that size, a Wraith or Bomber might be a better bet. You can then swap tires around as well (2.2 size) between them.

Thanks for the great info. I do like the size of the rock rey but am more concerned wether the SCX10 II is a better truck in the kit form than others around the price range prior to getting into upgrades. I of course will upgrade later but looking for the best kit out if the box. I have looked a little into the wraith and bomber but was reading there there were a few weak links that would need upgraded soon after assembly. I am curious though, in your opinion would u rather purchase the Bomber or the SCX10 II?

Both are great just two totally different style trucks. Bomber and wraith are more multi purpose than an scx10. I'm running a wraith that runs trail and crawling add a 3s and its a good basher.

Well, I went with the Axial SCX10 II due to the fact that I have the Losi Rock Rey and I felt the Bomber would be pretty similiar. I might end up going back for the Bomber in a few weeks. Thanks for all your input!

I'm looking at getting a SCX10.2 or a rr10 bomber kit. What are you running for servo, esc and radio?

I have a bomber kit I run a mmp esc tekin pro4hd 3000kv & servo hitec 7954sh. It crawls smooth as butter on a cracker. Plenty of power on tap when needed

My scx10 runs a Holmes Hobbies brxl esc and Torquemaster pro 40t motor, castle 10a bec @6.6v and hitec 7955tg servo.

I don't have a bomber, but do have a wraith which is pretty similar. That runs a mamba max pro esc, tekin rok412 2300kv motor, castle 10a bec @ 7.4v and rcomg d3-st-bf30s servo.

Running a mmp with hobbywing bec and 3656sd 3400kv spektrum 6040 servo if I remember correctly. It works but looking for another jr z9100t. Love that servo. Mines super smooth after a little help with esc programming. ^^

Below is a list of the electronics I believe I will be running, but since I am relatively new to the hobby any input would be great. I am not looking for a budget build and would like the best of the best for the most part.

Transmitter: Futoba 4PLS
Servo: Futoba S9177SV
ESC: Holmes Hobbies trail master pro BLE
Motor: Holmes Hobbies puller pro 540 BL 3500k
BEC: Castle 10a

My decision to go with these specific items is based on alot of videos and forum threads I've read but am still researching to make sure this is what I really want.

Great choices. I keep thinking about trying. Futaba radio but my spektrum has been solid.

That will be a lot of speed for an scx10. I'd consider something more like the stubby 2200kv if you're committed on brushless. If you want it fast though, it will be great, haha.

I tried a spektrum dx4r pro and my 4pls suits me better in every way I can think. Also use a sanwa m11x for racing with, but it's a bit big and heavy for a crawler radio.

Easier to slow them down than speed them up hehehe. Really liked my scx10 27t on 3s but could have used just a little bit more.
