Another bigger scale is the FY03 converted to FPV with scale cockpit. Immersive rock FPV crawling video which have similar build schematics as Rockta.

Very cool.

My own experimentation with this was disappointing.

I got Fatshark 5.8

Just naivety, but I thought I could blast through brush, or go around fences etc. does not work. cant get anything in between.

I did not assume I could go thru buildings etc but even going over a hill and the signal drops. purely line of sight only for my stuff.

Actually you can get the signal penetration by 70% efficiency on 5.8ghz. You'll need to DIY custom clover leaf antenna (tuned) to make it work. I manage to drive my rock racer speeding around behind building running on video transmitter = 5.8ghz 600mw power. For example in this video you can see me drive behinds trees, object far away without problem. You don't have to spend more to upgrade just simple home DIy will do.

This is pretty amazing. I could see the FPV element of RC becoming more and more mainstream as time goes on. Kind of get the best of both worlds with this setup depending on how you would like to RC.

Yes, i think sooner or later more likely that most R/C car will have FPV capability because of new in-cockpit driving view give more immersive like driving experience. FPV equipment nowadays are extremely cheap and easy to setup which makes its more affordable and economical for everyone to build it.

Right now i'm busy working to convert every of my R/C car/truck to FPV capable including some detailed works on cockpit dashboards, seats, steering wheels and etc.

Another FPV scale rock crawling project (K949)
FPV conversion K949/A333 work in progress and testing, still working glitches on OSD and pan-tilt issues. Using stock electronics with booster installed on the radio. Would be awesome crawler next to my FY03 but not as fast as my 739 buggy. Looks i will have handful of ground FPV collection on my table

Thanks for the update on this thread. I have the wltoys 12428 which is similar (maybe smaller). It's a great idea to put the camera in the head.
