Axial SCX10 using 2.2" Tires
 
I have a stock Jeep G6, and was wondering if Duratrax DTXC4061 Scaler 2.2" would fit nicely. It's 140mm diameter.

1) Do I need a lift kit?
2) Would the stock bumper be in the way?

SPECIFICATIONS
Outer Diameter: 5.5" (140mm)
Width: 2.0" (51mm)
Inner Diameter: 2.2" (56mm)

In my opinion, 2.2's on an SCX10 totally takes away from the scale appearance of these trucks.

If you don't care about scale looks, go for it. The G6 has great clearance around the rear of the body, so you wont have issues there. You might have to trim out the front fender flares though. A lift kit isn't a bad idea for 2.2s. But keep in mind, while you are going to get the benefits of a larger tire, you are also going to get the negatives of a higher center of gravity. ESPECIALLY if you have to lift the truck for the 2.2s to clear.

If you crawl with the truck and do a lot of steep climbs, I would stick with 1.9s. If you are mostly playing in mud and trailing a lot, 2.2s can work. Just don't be surprised if your truck looks cartoonish with the large wheels and tires.

Yea, you need to be selective on your build for it to look right.. im doing one, but it has a long wheel base, plus im limited on bodies that fit.. forgot to mention i running ar60's, wich makes a big difference

2.2 scx10 honcho

Here is a shot of my 2.2 scx10 honcho. All i needed to do to get em on was change the body so they didnt rub and remove the honcho front bumper and use 20mm boom racing axel wideners. It is way more capable now. Less diff hang-ups.

Here are some more shots of my rig as 1.9 and 2.2
I sometimes enjoy the challenge of driving with the 1.9 but its way easier to get it done with 2.2 over smaller rocks where your diffs may become snagged becase of less clearance. I am happy to sacrifice scale appearance for performance gains😃

2.2 original flat irons are about the biggest you can get away with imo, as they are only a tiny bit taller than the 1.9 flat iron xl's.

Its larger (5.5"+) 2.2's that look ridiculous.

Yeah, forgot what the actual size was 4.76" compared to 4.84" (although I see they make a 5.5" version too now)
