Default Scx 10 battery runtime.

I just ordered an scx 10 wrangler kit for my 4 year old son and of course for me to build and him to help. I'm always used to fast stuff and used to have a venom creeper. Creeper had small mah pack and my savage flux has 6300 mah packs. My question is what would be a good capacity size for the scx 10. I have a hobbywing brushed speed controller and a hackmoto 35t motor. Just looking for something that would give about 30 min of runtime. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The most common size seems to be around 2200 mah.

Thanks. I figured something above 3000 mah would be good but wasn't sure. The flux gets like 40 min with the 6300 batteries and thats beating on it pretty hard.

I have the same combo in my SCX10. I get approx 50 minutes out of a 2200mah 2s.

How do you like the combo. I figured for like $40 you couldn't go wrong. I was trying a different route with this build and go with some less expensive gear instead of novak, tekin, or castle for $100 and up.

It has been great. I've taken it through mud and water and it's still working. Only problem I have had is that the drag brake doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't use it so it's not a huge problem. For the price you can't go wrong.

I used to have a tekin fxr in the venom creeper and it started to loose the holding power on its drag brake over time. I would slowly creep forward and not totally hold. But like you said for the price you can't go wrong. Thanks for the help everyone.

On my son's Dingo (also 4) I can squeeze out 3.5+ hours from a 3s 5000mAh. That's with an AE-2, 55 turn silver can and throttle EPA turned down to a walking pace. On my Honcho when it was still stock-ish (same ESC/motor, recently moved to the Dingo) would get me around an hour +/- on 3s 2200mAh.

Got the kit in today. Wow that's a lot of parts. But it's going to be fun putting it together and painting it. Going to probably take a while working on it with my son. But he will have an rc all his own when we are done.

They go together pretty well. Once you start you will realise it's pretty straight forward. Have fun

I use a 5000mah in my SCX10 and take it for 1-2 hour trail runs and I haven't run out of power yet.

How do NiMh batteries hold up to low geared brushed motors? I know how brushless systems handle them but with a crawler would it just get really weak and not have the power to climb when the batteries get low?
