anyone up for nitro rock crawling
#2
One of the RC mags did a nitro crawler build some years back. It's possible but not practical. You have to run fans to cool it, the clutch takes some major abuse and no reverse.

No I don't remember, it was at least 5 years ago. I wanna say RC Driver or more likely one of the crawler mags I had.
I'll rummage around and see if I can find it.

Maybe more like rock racing or rock bouncing, but for slow technical crawls, I think it would not be so good.

I say try it. Maybe you can come up with something that works.

At the end of the vid it seems to have died. Maybe adding a clunk in the gas tank like we do on our airplanes would work to keep the engine fed with fuel at any angle.

It would be way more complicated that it would need to be. Run times would also be pretty bad.

I remember that article too. IRRC it was xtream RC.
It might have been RCCA, but I don't think they ever did anything that 'out there'
Nitro sounds like a good way to get kicked out of your favorite public crawling spot

I think it's more along the lines of scale or trail running. The nitro would ad a touch of realism with the sound and smoke but i agree that it would be very hard on a clutch. The xtm actually has an easier shifting reverse than the traxxas tmaxx. Almost as easy as the hpi savage hehehe.
