looking for advice on getting crawlers
Hello I'm new to rock crawling and i wanted to get some input on what type/brand of crawler to get for a 1/10th scale that would be good for just driving whenever and not for comp because i will never be that good lol. but so far a few friends have told me to check out some axials wraith, losi night crawler so far but I'm still looking for something that has a lot of parts/bodies ect. and any advice about parts i with have to look out for like something that tends to breaks easy or a part that i should upgrade right away
any help on this is greatly appreciated Ev. |
No doubt the wraith!!

cool. but for the wraith what parts would you say i should switch out since i'll probably have to do to soon anyways? also what type of motor/turn are you using?
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial-wraith/ Be sure to read the stickies at the top. |
I bought a CC01 from japan on Monday that arrived yesterday. Spent all night building and i gotta say its an amazing machine. Why didn't i buy a 4wd or a axial or something else? well i wanted to see if i would like the hobby. Also i like the readily available parts for the Tamiya CC01.
Now my only complaint about the CC01 is the really bad... REALLY BAD turning circle. Other then that, i love it and dont think i will need another one style other then a 2nd CC01. Then agian this is more a trail vehicle and not a true crawler. Thats my 2c hope it helps you decide. |
thanks

Axial gets my vote but the losi night crawler is an incredible machine I must say. 21.5 is a great crawling setup. I run one in my venom crawler on 3s. Power all over and smooooth. Oh and no brushes or comm to smoke. I also have a hobbywing/tacon 1200kv I'm gonna try in a crawler king just because it's sitting here.

sensorless is gonna cog bad at low speeds, ultra low gearing may help it some

Well since everyone has a sale now at least I can cry a little bit less about how much I will spend lol but if anything I might want to try that 21.5T

Personally I'd be staying away from brushless in a crawler. Regardless if you are comping or not, 99% of people comping 2.2 are running brushed simply because they run so much smoother.
The only way I would put a brushless in a wraith was if I was building a rock racer where wheel speed is a must. Even then I'd still consider a brushed motor as they are fine with water. |
Get an Axial AX10 its great for beginners as well as comp. all around a great truck.
