First Cralwer..........HPI Crawler King
 

Here is my HPI Crawler King. Been slowly upgrading it over the last few months. I did remove the transmission slipper clutch, new front mounted servo on the axle, and new hardened front gear set from the HPI MT 12. Then I added some Sedona tires for when I want to crawl more and then also have some TSL Super Swampers for when I want to have a little more realistic look.

I did add my Castle Sidewinder SV2 and since it don't need to be a comp type crawler I added a 4600 Castle brushless motor and turned it way down. When I want so added fun I turn it up a little but never all the way as I don't feel like tearing things too much so I try not to get to carried away.:lol:

Looks very nice. I've always liked the looks of the wheelyking.

Once I changed the steering to on the axle, put in the front heavy duty ring and pinion gears and removed the slipper setup in the transmission it has been great. I have not done any other repairs to the drive line and I have no troubles since. I have about 7 hours of running on it. The purple stuff I did mainly for looks and a little strength to. A little bling is always nice.:D

Been very happy it with it once I did those little mods. I have about 50 bucks in the front ring and pinion setup and 20 for the front servo mount setup. The Slipper removal I did with no money out of pocket. I did the mod that is posted from another website to remove the slipper. Took about 1 hour and thats mainly taking out and reinstalling the transmission. Ring and pinion took less that 30 minutes to do. Servo setup I think took maybe 10 minutes. Since then been a great fun crawler.

Good trucks overall. Beat on mine quite a bit and it holds up well. Looking good bud!

Well I took out the Castle 4600 and ended up going with the Traxxas brushed motor. It feels great to me as now I have the perfect amout of speed for some fun, and climbing longer hills with some wheel spin but plenty enough power and control for the lower speed stuff. I turned the EPA down to 85% and its just where I want it. Not enough to really tear it up but enough to have maximum fun. Now its just charge batteries and run. After I put the new motor it I ran another 45 minutes and me and my buddy Tim had a blast.

Hey, i was wondering whats the point of having your servo angled?

I'm building two of these again . One for crawling and one for..... Well not really sure lots of purple aluminum so it'll look good but it won't crawl. The rear has the plate that connect the rear links and it won't have any articulation but it'll look good. Pics soon.

First ones done ?

Didn't realize how bad the pics were. M995 servo vxl esc and hpi 15 turn motor on 2s.

Nice looking machine dude.

It looks like an aftermarket bracket...not homemade. It kinda looks like there's something on the top of the pumpkin that the servo has to be mounted in that position in order to clear it, otherwise it would be mounted completely horizontal.

I was gonna say, you're not crawling with a 4600...way too high.

Nice looking truck. We are in the process of building one as well but it will not be that nice.

Was actually doing some hill climbing with it in. Oh man was it a blast watching the mulch fly.

Since I put the Traxxas motor in I have been mainly just running and running the truck. Lots of time on it with no problems. Once I went thru it when new and fixed a few things it has been bullet proof.

Going to start working on a new Axial (I think SCX10) with all new STRC components on it. Been using STRC parts for years on many of my other cars/trucks and they have been awesome. Parts worked great on my Crawler King so will continue to use them on Axial project I will start in the next month or so. Will get a thread posted once i get started.

So you like the performance of a brushed motor over a brushless? I have a BL in my wraith and I love it. However, I just ordered an axial scx10 '12 jeep rubicon and was thinking of going with a custom brushed motor in it.
