Default Best crawler for a newbie?

I've read good things about the Axial Scx10, but is it good for a newb?

Any help is appreciated.

SCX10 is a great truck right out of the box. Spend another $40 and get the MIP metal driveshafts for it though, the stock axial drive shafts pop off the Ujoints pretty easily. Just my experience.

Axail Wraith. You can craw with it and have a little speed on the side. Check out ( You Tube Axail Wraith) I have one and love it. (IMO)

If you are looking for an actual crawler, look at the ax10 line. Highly upgradable, and easy to work on. The scx-10s are fun, just not as crawlable with the scaler-type chassis.
With that said, I do enjoy my scx-10s. The Wraiths are alot of fun as well, just a touch more expensive.

I agree WRAITH is expensive (but isn't this Hobby) $3.60 and now it sit's at $9 plus. My next real CRAWLER will be the XR10 after i buy another Wraith to run in the wet and snowy months to come. Have FUN no matter what you get.

Default newbie advice

Great starter. Choose wisely with regards to a scale truck, and a true crawler. I went to extremes and got a package that I paid slightly over a grand, with all the best gear available. Building one gives a better understanding of the engineering and reasons behind it, but driving one straight away gets you smiling.
If it's the right price, and you are comfortable with the sale, go for the Axial. If you get hooked with that, say goodbye to reason.

The SCX10 is good to start with as long as you convert the driveshafts away from the set screw BS. Cost me about $45 to convert with shipping using wraith/maxx parts. Driveshafts fell off twice in my first 3 battery packs when stock! BS design. The rest of the truck is pretty good out of the box. It is my favorite truck in my fleet of many rigs!
