Default HomeMade SCX10 4 Link and Lower Links

Well I wanted to start customizing the Honcho to be different. I found a few posts on different ways of making parts and found some ideas on how to make them with aluminum piping and threaded rod as well as some Traxxas Revo rod ends. Well they came out perfect and here are some pics of the truck with its new custom suspension upgrades. Thanks for looking,

This was with just the 4 Link done and the stock lower links in place....

Here are some pics with the Lower Links done as well.....

Some articulation after 4 link install.

Looks really good man now do the same thing to the steering links and mirror the trans and you'll be good to go.

You mirror the trans to eliminate most of the torque twist.
It will greatly improve the crawling ability of your crawler.
Four link front and rear with steel links and a mirrored trans, it's going to crawl like a totally different rig than what you pulled outta the box.

What you've gotta do is remove the tranny and open it up. Take the top shaft/gear the spur attaches to and flip it so the shaft comes out the other side of the transmission. One side of the trans case will have a plug in it.
Remove it and reinstall in the other side. You'll also need to flip the motor mount plate so your motor will now bolt on from the oppisite side.
Your pinion gear will now be pointing towards the front of your rig.
Correct motor rotation on tx or esc depending on what electronics your running. If it's the RTR your going to need to swap places with the 2 motor wires.

@transambill,

Thanks for the help and tips. I will definately look into that mod, sounds like it should help things out.

Well here are some new pics of the Lower Links painted Yellow to match the 4 Link setup. I also painted and installed a used set of AXIAL steering links off eBay. The truck is definately coming along nice. Thanks for looking....

The links turnd out real nice man but you do realise the first time you take it outside crawling there going to get all messed up slideing over rocks, logs, brush etc.
I know the first time I take a new build out to test it and it flips over scratching up the body/paint job i've worked hours on I cry a little.

^^^^ ha ha , yeah I Know it will get scratched up but thats all part of it. Build it, take good pictures of it, stare at it and accept that now its time to BASH IT!

Yes these are alluminum links. 1/4" x .035 hollow alluminum rod, exactly the same stuff that Axial uses for thier 55$ parts. If there are a few people who want them I could make them and sell them dirt cheap, they could also be any color you want. If there is any interest please just let me know.

Hmm how cheap is dirt cheap?? I could use some for my Ramcharger to give me back my stock WB (wheel base). Like you said I really don't want to dump a whole lot into just links when I could get some more scale appearing stuff with that money. I think I would only need the lower links, but if it is a decent price I may take the lowers, uppers (front 3 link, rear 4 link, and if it's a really good price I may take another 4 link set if I want to switch between 3 link and 4 link). I am running a 3 link in the front and 4 link in the rear as it is. Let me know... I have things I could trade also. PM me. Check my feedback, it's clean as a whistle.

nice colored links. love those yellow and orange links... makes the honcho stand out nicely.

I made mine using full threaded rod and traxxas rod ends, and sleeved with a hollow plastic rod...

i've bought a hollow carbon rod to use as the sleeve but still no time to replace the sleeves.

anyone interested to DIY can take a look at my blog or our forum on the details and parts used for the custom links too.
