I have a cc-01 jeep, with a 4 linked rear, GPM steering, cvd's and rear shock mounts, derailed C hubs, winch, jero rims, mud thrashers, brazed front bumper.
Love it, wish I could get more steering out of it, going to have to try some knuckles that have more ackerman settings.
They are a fun rig to work on and drive.

The Pro-Line chisel tire and titus rim
2'2 or 1'9 ?
thank you for your help ..

isnt 2.2 gonna be too big for the cc01?
if u want more scale looks should try going with 1.9 or maybe 1.55

Hi All
I am a Tamiya nut and avid on road racer and drifter but was thinking of doing something different for a change.
I was looking at the CR-01 chassis instructions and it seems a nice challenge as well as being totally different to the usual run-of-the-mill on-roader.
I tried registering on the RCcrawler.com site but it keeps telling me I am a bot....yes...bleep bleep bleep, I am at your service
Anyway I hope someone here will be able to assist by answering a couple of questions
I see there are currently four variants of the kit, but will not be interested in the Jeep as it is partly assembled....even though I prefer the body! It therefore leaves the Merc, Ford and Toyota!
The Ford seems to be the cheaper of the lot followed by the Toyota then the Merc.....I assume there is a reason for this but cannot seem to figure out why there is a difference in price other than the fact that one model is newer than the other and that the Merc and Toyota may include a light kit.
Can someone please confirm the contents of the different kits and what the additional extra's are...if any?
I assume that the chassis and the parts for it are the same across all four kits....
Next, which are the better of the tyres available, Vise or cliff crawler? or does this depend on the surface? What would be the best general all-rounder?
How quick do the tyres wear?
I have seen that there are barrel type springs available as a hopup part. Would it be neccessary to get these from word go and do they provide better handling characteristics or are the standard springs more than ok?
What are the reccomended hopups and/or modifications that should be performed while in the build phase?
Are the bent lower arms neccessary or worth the money?
Are the standard plastic dampers enough? where would you start to notice their limit?
Are the steel prop shafts neccessary?
As I have 2S lipo's for racing I would want a system that I can use with my current batteries so was looking at the Novak Goat 2s 21.5. Is this sufficient or should I look at the 18.5 or a total different system?
If using the 21.5 or 18.5 would the standard gearing be fine or would I need to look at a bigger or smaller pinion? If so what pinion would be reccomended?
Is it absoloutely neccessary to upgrade to 4 wheel steering or is it ok as is?
How is the 4WS mod performed and what are the required parts?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

All of the CR-01s will have the same chassis.
The Jeep is a hard shell body, the others are lexan.
I don't personally own one of these, but I have driven one a few times.
I would suggest building it stock to begin with, and then you can upgrade from there if you feel the need.

Bent arms aren't a bad idea for getting over the tricky stuff.
The steel prop shafts are a must-have. I twisted the plastic apart within the first five minutes but I was on a really technical rock course. If you don't have the diffs locked you probably won't need the steel shafts.
I have a goat with the 21.5 but I'm running 3s, you will probably want the 18.5 with 2s and the stock pinion is a good start. I have a small 3s battery, 2000mah or so, I don't recall exactly. I think it's for airplanes or 1/16th cars. It's way lighter which is good for the high placement of the battery, and gives tons of run-time.
You can get by without 4ws but once you lock the diffs the turning radius is pretty wide. The parts you need for 4ws are included but I would suggest going for aluminum servo arms right away.
