Looking for a 1/8 scale crawler kit
Hi folks,
as the title says, I’m looking for a 1/8th scale crawler kit with all the bells and whistles (4wd, 4ws etc) . I think that there was a manufacturer (U.S. based) offering this type of kit, but my old brain is failing so if anyone could point me in the right direction I’d be very grateful 👍 Thanks Smokey |
Actually the is no US manufacturer but some from China ...as usual.
CAPO is a prime brand and their cars have all"bells and whistles"...but a hefty price tag Yikong is more like the budget brand and they have only one model in two version in 1/8th scale |
The Traction Hobby trucks (From Asiatees) are the only relatively 1/8 trucks out there I'd consider. Pricey, but well spec'd imo. Won't need much else.
Axial Wraith, Bomber and Yeti I'd put out there too - they are larger than their 1/10 cousins and I guess could be considered 1/8 though Axial considers them 1/10. The Wraith especially crawls very well with a few select changes - gearing change and moving the battery up front being the two biggest changes. Sooner or later one of the manufacturers is going to catch on that a 1/8 or larger crawler is a pretty good idea, I'm sure we'll see one eventually. |
Thanks for your response guys, but sadly it looks like what I’m after doesn’t exist😥
I suppose it’s to be expected, after all it’s a niche scale in a niche segment of a niche hobby😂 RC4WD was the company I was thinking of, and looking at what they offer a bully2 moa kit might just be what I’m after, if I can work out how to mod it to 4wheel steer... Thanks again for your help, it’s much appreciated, Smokey |

Also, since a MOA is what peaked your interest, I take it you're looking for performance and not scale realism? I ask because the first thing that springs to mind when I hear the term bells and whistles is decorative parts and accessories to add realism. If you are looking to start a realistic 1:8 build, here are some options I've seen in videos that might be worth looking into:
I should note that while the Double E Land Rover looks pretty enticing and opportune, I'm not aware of anything coming even close to the JK Max in the bells and whistles department. (Yes, themountain. As a recent acquirer of a SIXER1 (1:6 scale 1990 Suzuki Samurai) I can assert first hand that Capo are in a league of their own. :-) There are a couple of other 1:8 crawlers out there, but I'm not sure how well they'd check the bells and whistles box:

9125Owner, Where can you buy Capo vehicles? I've seen that 1/6 scale Samurai around the internet and it definitely looks like something I need to own!

In retrospect, I probably should've bought mine from Kaioz.net, which is where I'm actually buying all the options and upgrades for it. The reason I initially hesitated buying it from Kaioz was because the store doesn't list prices outright. Instead, you add items to the card, make an inquiry, and they email you back with the total. My experience with them has so far been positive though. Let me know if you have other questions. (Note that I am not affiliated with Kaioz in any shape or form). |

Hi. I bought my Sixer from ToucanHobby via AliExpress. (They have their own website too). Many other AliExpress stores carry them too, but I'd always exercise caution navigating the murky waters of online marketplaces. This is especially true of AliExpress.

Thanks! The only place I had seen the brand so far was Kaioz, and the whole no prices thing seemed a bit sketchy. Hearing from someone that has dealt with them is reassuring though, so thanks!

1/8 Scale Defender
I am looking to convert a 1/8 Scale Defender from electric to a FS-L200 nitro. Does anyone have any vidoes or instructions from scratch to finish including required upgrade parts to make this work. I have been an airplane/jet guy all my life and want to try this Jeep conversion. Thanks

Adding Traction Hobby Tank 300 to the 1/8 scale list.

Did you end up buying one? I’m curious about which option is best.
