Advice Toward Reasonably Priced Motor/ESC
#1

Looking to not break the bank but would still like a decent system for the $100 or under range for a 1/10 scale rig. Brushed or brushless doesn't really matter. Any suggestions on what to get or what NOT to get?? Was thinking a brushed system with a decent motor. I would want the esc to be at least a 6v bec. 7.4 would be great but I don't really need it.
Thanks.....

Hobbywing 1080 esc/Holmes Hobbies 550 sport brushed motor.
Less than $65. Esc has program card and can switch between 6.0 and 7.4 volts for the servo.

Seriously, for the price you can't beat it. Just put a Hobbywing 1080 in my TRX4 after the stock esc gave up the ghost, and I put another Hobbywing 1080 and a Holmes Hobbies 21 turn 550 sport in my new Axial UMG10 build. Getting 2 more 1080 secs for my boys' TRX4 Sports asap. Just a great brushed esc at a ridiculous price. Keep us posted with what you decide on and any other concerns.

I use the same setup. There's a ton of options on the HW1080 that I haven't really delved into..but I plan to, soon. 15 to be exact. I use the 21t HH motor with my trx4 sport. Works really well so far.

I have the hobbywing 1080 and a brushed 35t and that’s a killer combo for the price. If you have a little more to spend I’d suggest the castle mamba x and a tekin roc412 brushless system! Such a smooth setup with enough torque to go wherever you want it then have the wheel speed to if your going on trails. Also the mamba x can be set to adjust the drag brake from the radio depending what you are doing
