SCX24 for a 9 Year Old?
#1

Got my son into RC, but he's not that big on competition and tends to get bored quickly just driving laps around the track. Showed him crawling and he says he would like that more, but of course I don't want to invest too much until I'm sure. This would be mostly for playing around in the backyard and local parks and trails, and there's a local crawler group he might want to hang out with eventually. Saw the SCX24 and it looks like a fun little starter, plus it looks durable and is from a reputable company. The small size is also tempting since he looks uncomfortably awkward carrying his 1/10 Slash around.
Do you think he'd be happy starting with that, or would it be better to keep the scale larger and get something like the Redcat Gen7? I've also found the Danchee Ridgerock, but only find reviews in the rain forest. Oh, and a local guy is selling a CR12 Tioga for 120.

The scx24 is a fun little truck. and it is tough, also comes with spare parts. I also own a redcat everest 10 which is the same as the ax10 crawler.. Both are fun and duarble. If your son is ok with slow speed the scx24 is a good choice.

They are perfect for kids, and I even have some fun with it!

How do you like the Panda Tetra? I;m looking at a SCX24 or the panda, looks like the Panda might have better suspension.

Just ordered a Panda Tetra K1. All of my other RC's are too fast for 5yr old daughter. She gets frustrated trying to maneuver around our little backyard track, even with the throttle turned down, so I'm trying a crawler. Was looking at the SCX24, but they're out of stock every. Amazon currently has the Panda in stock, so for $110, figure it's worth a shot.
