This was a crawl session I had last Friday when I took my floating holiday.

So after noticing some shaft play in the stock servo, I decided to swap out to the DS3218 20kg servo along with a SSD RC 25T clamping metal servo horn. I'll eventually get a stronger servo, but the 20kg will do for now.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...431aaed4_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3c1447cd_b.jpg The stock Enduro bumper is huge one the Enduro. The stock bumper on a SCX10.2 Cherokee is pretty big as well on a SCX10.2. Stock JCR Offroad bumper from the SCX10.2 Cherokee kit is much smaller when mounted on the Enduro, than the stock Enduro bumper. I'll stick with this for a while until the bumper I want eventually shows up for sale. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5fe7534a_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2e9fc9e5_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0c60c929_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...03898b8f_b.jpg |
Time for the 11.83% overdrive gears (26T/54T) to go in. Stock is 5.7% (27T/53T) overdrive.
11.83% Gear set. 26T/54T gears. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e8395255_b.jpg You'll first need to disconnect the driveshafts from the transmission. Next, you'll need to remove the screws from the skidplate. Pay Attention! The skid uses 4 screws. 2 long ones, and 2 short ones. The longer ones are used towards the middle of the skid plate. The shorter ones closer to the frame rails. When you put it back, make sure you put it back properly or else you'll be gouging your gears. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...102edec7_b.jpg Transmission is out of the truck https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1c0698b3_b.jpg A look at the tiny skid https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...72f9c8f6_b.jpg 5 screws to remove to get to the gears. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ec9cb212_b.jpg The gears as they are inside. You'll be replacing the 2 gears closest to the spur gear. Leave the 3 gear row alone! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bbdff7fa_b.jpg 11.83% 26T small gear vs 5.7% 27T small gear https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...743e5cbe_b.jpg 5.7% 53T big gear vs 11.83% 54T big gear https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...710a78ed_b.jpg 54T gear greased up and put back in https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...88d5f3d7_b.jpg 26T greased up and ready to go https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3afe571a_b.jpg All the gears put back. (In hindsight, maybe I should've wiped off the old grease and re-greased all the gears) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...617c47d5_b.jpg Transmission buttoned up and ready to go! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5e769082_b.jpg Make sure your driveshafts are in phase when you put them back. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...68ee12cc_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b52058ba_b.jpg 11.83% Overdrive ready! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...60de9236_b.jpg |
I was checking that rig out. It's a nicely equipped rtr for sure.

Wow bta steering you normally see that on full out comp rigs

Sure looks like a nice truck. Gonna get me one too. Is the Hobbywing 1080 a improvement?

Work has been crazy lately, and I haven't really had much time to finish up what I had in mind, but I'm getting close.
Here's what I've been cooking up. I wanted to run a rear cage. Vaterra K10 cage didn't quite fit, Pro-Line cage works, but it's not exactly my favorite, but the BOM cage on the other hand, is one of my favorite rear cages. For this, I picked up the GMADE BOM Rear Cage Kit. It comes with the complete rear cage, fuel cell, and FRONT bumper too! (more on that later). https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...020e5db8_b.jpg Here's the cage all bolted up to the body. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...290c3366_b.jpg Now here's where I ran into some issues. The Enduro cab is longer than the BOM cab, so it pushes the rear cage back further. The cage is about the same length as the stock Enduro bed, but the cage has sides that would interfere with the rear tires unless you lengthened the wheelbase. So I just happened to have the GMADE BOM 324mm extended links. I may switch these out to other links eventually, but the length of these seems to work for what I want. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8f685d40_b.jpg Another issue with running this cage is that it will not allow for having the shock hoops as it was created with a cantilever suspension in mind, so I had to use Boom Racing shock keys and change the orientation of the shocks. I also had to use the Enduro yellow 2.47 lbs/in. springs to stiffen up the rear suspension due to the orientation of the shocks. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5a384c5b_b.jpg Along with the issues of needing to extend the wheelbase, I discovered that the driveshaft was too short, so I needed to extend that as well. I bought another Enduro driveshaft set thinking that using another long end would be enough. Alas, it didn't work. The metal insert of the Enduro driveshaft at the furthest of each end would leave the other end just barely attached by around 5mm or so. If I wanted to use these, I'd need to modify the metal insert to have a ring int he middle like the Axial WB8 shafts to prevent the insert from sliding completely in one direction or another. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2e60e82b_b.jpg So... I resorted to using extra Axial WB8 shafts that I had lying around. You can see that the insert has that ring stopper to prevent the insert from going to the extremes of each end. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c4faa7ef_b.jpg Here it is all mounted up and ready to go. I like the way it looks, I just hope it performs well. Still not completely finished though. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e3d722e5_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1ab0788f_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...00c94317_b.jpg So the rear cage hinge pegs are too short. They are barely held in and will easily fall out. For the time being, I just zip tied it so that it can't back out any further, but I plan to drill the ends and attach extensions cut from the sprue using set screws to make the peg longer. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...3e8004ec_b.jpg The bonus in this rear cage kit is that it comes with the BOM front bumper that actually fits with this body pretty well! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d8870eca_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...29e4610d_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ab73c735_b.jpg I guess you could call this an "Enduro Bomero"? |
Interesting. I am looking at combining the bed with a cage myself. I like how the spare wheel is kinda low and towards the middle of the chassis.

I did a quick test over the weekend with the rear BOM cage setup. Overall, I like it and discovered where I want to tune it. I've already done some changes, but I'll post this first for chronological order.
Youtube vid of the run: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...6225ec61_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ae0aa983_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...bd7f2e63_b.jpg |
So after my last session out, I kind of wanted to get the rear suspension at a more ideal angle.
I moved the lower shock mount location from the lower shock mount position to the same position as the lower links. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1aeccb35_b.jpg Here you can see where the original lower shock mount position is versus the new location. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5c37b7c0_b.jpg A nice bonus to this change is that I have somewhere to mount a swaybar link should I decide to use one. I also finally finished painting up the fuel cell from the GMADE BOM cage kit. I also did some touchup paint on the Enduro body as well as stuck some of their nice sticker on. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...305bfba8_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ae799c23_b.jpg |
