Carisma SCA-1E Coyote, Lynx ORV and Ford F-150

I had been looking at these for a while, and I didn't see a thread here on RC Tech for them. The Ford is not yet available, so the other two will keep me happy for a while.

I have only had one weekend of fun with them so far, so stay tuned for more info. Initial impression is that they are solid, fun and very capable.

Cool! Somebody finally got one. I’ve been considering this since Carisma announced it. From all the videos they posted early on. They did some heavy duty real world testing and competing with a box stock one.

Unfortunate my suburban area doesn’t have much near by that would be good for running crawler/trail trucks.

edit. Just checked their Facebook, they are just starting a 12 hour endurance challenge event with one.

I can understand that, it's not worth the investment if you just end up with expensive shelf queens.

I saw that these trucks are (or based off of) something called the Carson Mountain Warrior. It looks like the Carson is sold in Germany, Poland and a few other countries. I haven't really sat down and compared them, but I'm curious what was changed when Carisma got involved.

The trucks are only 2S capable, as I have read the stock electronics will burn up on 3S. The truck is way too fast out of the box, so either a gearing change is in order, or maybe a 55T motor. It's just too fast and bouncy for my taste. Another negative is that the truck comes with a mix of bearings and bushings. I just got a bearing kit, so I will tear into them this weekend and get the bearings installed.

I been running a Coyote for about 6 months now and really like it. I started with the kit version since it gives you the aluminum shocks, new stronger shock mounts, new servo position and new battery mounting position. When I was doing the build I added full bearings, steel transmission gear. aluminum steering knuckles and aluminum steering linkage. I just switched out the steering linkage and put a custom high clearance steering linkage. Servo wise I use the Savox 1283 with over 400 oz of torque, Castle Creations Micro X and Castle 2850 Slate motor. So far I tried many different tires but I think after the way my truck worked this weekend I will be sticking to the Proline Hyrax tires (I also use the DUratrax Showdowns when it's a little wet out as they clear out quickly and Duratrax Deep Woods as they worked almost as well as the Hyrax for cheaper price). My new suspension setup really helped me out as well. Overall I use my Coyote a lot more than my Ascender which I like a lot but right now my Coyote is my go to crawler.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...d3011fd62a.jpg

Sorry I haven't been on for a little and missed this. You where right, it's a RC4wd cover. They come two to a pack. The areas we go crawling at are local mountain bike trails/hiking trails. We have a few good places in my area. Normally I get together with 5 or 6 guys and we go trailing for a few hours and get in a a few miles of walking and rock climbing. Good exercise when I take the Coyote out.

Out of my 3 crawlers (HPI Venture and Vatarra Ascender) are my other two. Coyote is still my favorite to run for some reason.

Looking at getting another crawler in the next two weeks or so and I already have the Coyote and thinking of possibly adding the F-150 version as I'm looking for a crawler with a longer wheel base. My thought is I already have one and if I get the longer wheelbase version I can share all the parts plus I'm already use to the Carisma platform. Not 100% sure what I want to do but I know if I get one I will also be ordering the aluminum axle housings as well plus a set for my Coyote as well. So many nice trucks out nowadays it's hard to decide but I do like to be different and I don't have any issues my my current Carisma so maybe I will just go for it and get the F-150 version.
