Looks like AMain finally got their backordered items in stock.... a few things coming... Not sure if I'll be using it all on this truck, since I also have a Yeti Score TT Kit waiting in the wings. I'll be determining which parts go to which as I go.

Let's take a look at how it stands before the fun begins...

Options #1 and #2 https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4598/...7d24a78f_b.jpg So far.... it's a little bit daunting figuring out where I want to start. The obvious bulk of the work will be the KNK hardware upgrade. I'll also need to flip the gears in the front diff to use the SSD axle. I'll try to figure out where to start tomorrow. |
This is awesome! I have a Yeti that has taken serious amounts of abuse (I bought it so that my nephews - 3yo+- could learn how to drive RS cars... on 3S!). So far I have put a bunch of the Axial parts on it, but they stripped out the rear diff Saturday. Amain is delivering Incision rear spool, upper links, and four front links Thursday to get it ready for our Christmas. I definitely want a new body and to replace the badly scratched cage parts, but need to wait until they get the hang of it more.
How did the CI foams affect the handling? One thing I do not like about the Yeti is that the stock tires seem to roll and cause the car to flip. Look forward to seeing the rest of your progress. |

So here are some pictures of my progress before my SSD axle mishap. I've ordered a second axle housing while I wait for the replacement part as I can use the additional axle housing for the Bomber or Wraith that I also have yet to build.
Team KNK Screw Kit https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4683/...413b5ae0_b.jpg SSD HD D60 Centered Axle Housing (before my misshap with the link mount) with SSD Wide D60 Conversion Kit https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4589/...e1104944_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4727/...b756b04d_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4646/...f2c291b5_b.jpg Progress with the Team KNK screws... https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4680/...b258ef54_b.jpg Yeti in pieces... https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4687/...681ce785_b.jpg Found this when I took off the arms... I can only think of one time where I actually had any sort of impact and it wasn't that bad... weak ass screws. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4601/...844b23ea_b.jpg Bought some Axial AXA0128 M3x61mm replacements... I'll have to sleeve these like I've read others have done... or figure something out. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4636/...c5e91b58_b.jpg Xtra Speed 56T Spur gear going in... https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4644/...e3b34b4f_b.jpg Those Vanquish slipper plates won't work, I mistakenly got the Wraith ones.... which I'll now use on the Wraith. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4736/...7143da84_b.jpg Spur in... didn't take a picture with the mesh adjusted yet. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4733/...033c7f25_b.jpg More pictures of screw replacement progress. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4693/...ffdbec87_b.jpg About to put the upgraded Incision Upper links and SSD Trailing arms on before I ran into my mishap. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4693/...5a8a26c4_b.jpg |
Looking good! I am going to put my Incision goodies in tonight or tomorrow. Are you going to widen the front to match the rear and if so how?
I really like the centered axle housing, I think I may spring for it. |

I really like the centered axle housing, I think I may spring for it. I bought the wide adapter kit for the SSD axle housing so that it's as wide as the front. This will allow me to use any wheel in the rear without that wide hex nut adapter from the kit. |
I actually noticed that tonight. I installed my Incision spool, rear upper links, and front links a bit ago.
Waiting on amain to get the SSD housing in stock and I’ll order the Crawler Innovations 3002 foams as well. |
Got some of the updates done over the holidays...
Was going to sleeve the stock pins, but instead went with M3x60mm 12.9pt screws that I found https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4683/...cb0b1098_b.jpg SSD Trailing arms and Incision Upper links installed and mounted onto the SSD HD D60 Axle. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4680/...4d604524_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4689/...a569988a_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4679/...94bde523_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4599/...945ba7e7_b.jpg Comparison of stock arm vs RPM arms https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4692/...efc26e0e_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4685/...1665e084_b.jpg Comparison of stock pins (left) vs the new 12.9pt screws (right) https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4692/...f6f368f8_b.jpg Vanquish Skid Plate https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4600/...5d3c8e1d_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4679/...38be8a3a_b.jpg 12.9pt screws, RPM arms and Vanquish Skid Plate installed https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4682/...9e228ee0_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4692/...f87aeeed_b.jpg |
Nice! I placed an order for the RPM arms and need to order some of the screws you bought. Noticed that both of mine are bent.

The skid plate should also help if you haven't already upgraded that.
I did order the Strong Arms RC sleeve and bolt kit - by the time I bought the tube, a cheap cutter, and then the bolts it was about the same price. Did your upgraded springs make a difference? I notice mine are lacking. I did put the Incision front links on, but I am about to replace them with Traxxas camber links. |
I’m about to find out this weekend, but I heard that the SSD center housing requires you to flip the front differential gear so the rear wheels aren’t going backwards. That true?
