Hi all, I have just bought and built up a SP12X that is kitted out with Corally IB4200's and a Corally 19T / 10 x 2 motor. I would like to ask what springs/ brushes/ timing/ gearing, etc I should set for an up coming national that I have entered. We run 19T on the Saturday and Mod on the Sunday. Have you got a base setup to work from? It will be held indoors on carpet and remember we only use non smelly additive over here in the UK. Any ideas on tyres/ bodyshells/ etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
All the best and thanks very much.

For motor's your best bet will be to have a word with Andy Sawyer on Saturday morning. He runs corally motors both days.
Shell should be Parma Zytek, it's all anyone ever runs in the UK. Tyres - i will start out with the same as i've run at other tracks - Parma Grey rears with Magenta fronts.

For the Corally 19T we run about 52mm/rev. For the 10T, start at 36mm/rev, and be prepared to go as far as 40mm/rev - Plymouth can be a big track!! Ratios will depend more on your driving style and cells to be honest, so visit Matt, Andy Sawyer, Roger Manwaring or me, and we'll swap notes.
I'd start with Grey rear and Purple front - it may or may not turn into a magenta track - unless you are MattW-top-five material! If you need any Corally set-up help or tips, come see us all anytime. HTH

There is a very good reason why i'll start on Magenta fronts - It's all i have

Thanks for the reply guys. I wanted to try the car out at the Torquay club today but had to go look for a real car instead so did n't get to go. Will try it all out next weekend at the SW Winter Series meeting that is being held at the same sports hall as the national the week after. It will obviously have lower grip at next weeks meeting but at least I can work on gear ratio's and what have you! All the best, Chris.

Just to let you guys know that I ran the 12x for the first time today at the same venue that the National will be held at next week. For a car that was pretty much box stock, I have to say that it was great! Tried gold rears with purple then magenta fronts (magentas ended up feeling better) and then purple fronts with pink rears which I thought was the best for todays conditions. Next to no grip at the begining of the day but the grip did come up as the rounds progressed (should have more grip next week obviously). Got some good advice from some of the top guys that have had the car for a while and ended just missing out of qualifying in 2nd place by 6 hundreths of a second. Robin had his going really well so I will strip it down during the week and rebuild using some of his words of wishdom!
Should be good for next week but may have to 'borrow' a zytek of one of you guys as Wim does n't have any!
Cheers, Chris.

Track: Low to mid grip levels, quite technical, medium sized track
We don't use traction additive
we don't have a stock pro12 class in NZ, just open motor and batteries to 4300mah. 8 minute races. So i usually run an 8x2 or 10x2 armature.
gearing: 102t spur to 27 t pinion
I've been running 1.5 degrees negative camber.
about 2-3mm down stop.
running the softer (standard) spring for the shock.
standard shock oil.
i've been running the soft t-bar.
I put a drop of the damper fluid in the side dampers.
I run the pink corally rears if the weather is cold. And the kawada 1/12th soft compound rear tyres if it is a hot day (seems to love the heat, good if it is warm-hot since we run 8 minutes)
At first I wasn't able to get much steering with even gold stars. But with the setup above i've been able to get ample steering and consistency with silver fronts (not silver star)
Awesome car i must say. I really don't know why some people change the front with an associated front

Cheers for that mate, here's how it ended up today:
1 degree camber (tyres wear flat)
standard castor
30wt shock oil (standard spring after trying harder spring)
CRC light damper fluid in damper tubes (and front dampers)
standard front springs (with 1 turn preload that helped settle the car)
prurple fronts/ grey rears (Parma)
CRC b'shell (with gurney flap)
3.5mm ride height all round
Corally 10x2 geared at 42 mmpr
Car was great and hopefully will get better still after a little bit of 'playing'.
