Boulder Off Roading
 

Hi All,

I'm a college student with a 1/16th summit vxl and a 1/10th Rustler/Slash conversion (in progress)

I'd like to take my cars somewhere offroad with jump.
maybe a bmx track that isnt frequently used, a trail, an offroad track at a rc shop or anything like that

but im hoping for something in or close to boulder

let me know if anyone has ideas

Longmont is prob ur best bet...
It's a track run by hobbytown. U got power to charge, jumps, and every Sunday race once the season started.

If I remember right we had some 2wd 1/10 buggies and SCT and rustlers last year at the races.

if u go on Saturdays, there are prob other people throwing their cars around the track. :-)

Looks like we'll have enough for a full class of 1/10 2wd buggy, 2x SCT, 4x SCT, 1/8 E-buggy, 1/8 E-truggy and seems like we might have enough for a 1/8 Nitro Buggy class (Swop77 should be excited about that!).

Check out the Hobbytown USA thread is the Colorado section. Track is free to run except on Raceday which is most Sundays. There are two Satuday races this year and I at least 1 2 day race.

There is the Valmont Bike Park in Boulder.
Some great jumps for mountain bikes. Look it up and you should be able to have some fun.

I don't believe that RC cars are even allowed at Valmont Bike Park. Even if there's no specific prohibition it just seems like other visitors would possibly give you a hard time (See: Girl OwNeD by RC TrUcK at BMX Track!). If you want unofficial jumps you may have better success with using the jumps in Gunbarrel (near Avery) or even what looks to be some social jumps on the north-east side of Stazio.

I tried for a long time to find places in Boulder to drive my fast RC cars. After too many experiences with flat, dirt roads or overgrown jumps or pebbles getting lodged in the drivetrains of my 4WD shortcourse trucks, I've accepted that the only way to really get a good experience with the offroad racing vehicles is to drive the 25 minutes to the Longmont Hobbytown track.

I recently started into scale RC trucks. My SCX10s don't require a lot of space and they make driving dry riverbeds, hiking trails and exposed rocks a LOT of fun. Currently, my favorite places to drive them are the woods behind my house, the nearby bridge-widening construction zone, and the riverbed at Four Mile Creek Trailhead.
