Yesterday was a lot of interesting racing. Lots of broken trucks and such.

I broke a rear a arm, a front a arm, a rear chassis plate, and a CVA dogbone. (all a arms and rear chassis plate broken on those goddamn nails)

Oh, and I took apart the transmission, and my idler gear isn't looking so nice... AGAIN. I think the topshaft is screwing them up, along with making my truck so loud.

Luckily for me, everywhere I've looked that topshaft is out of stock.

I could tear apart that B4 Sean gave me but I don't know if I'll have the same problem.

So I guess I could take the electronics from my SC10 and stick them in my XXX CR?

I'm glad no one was there to take pictures, I would be embarrassed for people to see how terribly I did. :(

Hope everyone else had a [somewhat] good weekend!

Sorry to hear that Noah. Next time your in town I'll take a look at your SC10. If Andy doesn't have the parts you need to fix it I may have what you need. Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday.

Well the truck has been loud since I built the kit.

I've only stripped one idler.

But this one is looking driveable, just not as perfectly molded as a new out of package one.

I would love to take a look at that, have you letting Sean, Brent, Brian, or Bob look at this?

NLpurplelambo43 03-04-2012 10:07 PM

Well I asked Sean and Brent and they both said that apparently you either get a good top shaft or a bad one and that's what makes the noise. Also that it shouldn't make a big difference.

I don't like the noise, one of the reasons I got the truck was for that beautiful quiet sound I had heard in most of the AE stuff. :/

I took apart that B4 for the topshaft and tried to see if it made any difference in noise, and it didn't.

We will take a look at it.

Are you going to April fools?

bcrazy 03-05-2012 05:35 PM

Pinion and spur

The noise could also be coming from your pinion and spur gear. I have had that happen before when I flipped the spur gear unintentionally after doing some work to the diff. It was worn in one direction and when I flipped it around to the way it had been worn in, the noise was gone. Just a thought if the top shaft did not work.
I'll be more than happy to look at it next time I see you.

NLpurplelambo43 03-05-2012 07:14 PM

April Fools? That's for IRCR, right? I wish I could go, I may have to talk to Sean and my mom about it. Would be nice to drive on a smooth track. :ha:

Anyways, I might just have to try that out!

Well, actually I'm getting an order from A Main tonight and already had a Kimbrough spur in my cart.

Those JConcepts silent speed gears are really expensive, and are out of stock. So I'm sure Kimbrough makes good stuff. Plus a new Losi pinion and that should work out hopefully!

Thanks guys.

Wondering if I should replace the idler gear? I'm not so sure, it looked about the exact same as that old B4? Here it is (you have no idea how long it took me to take this  ).

This is the one of two pictures I received from the Colorado Off Road State Championships. They were cropped and resized weirdly. :weird:

Did you get your plaque Brad? Mine was spelled "Noha LaVav," hence my signature.

:lol:Be proud of the trophy and misspelled plaque... You earned it either way:nod:

RC8.2 build

For those who have asked about 1/8 scale. Here is my RC8.2 build. Too bad I can't run in at HDRP :)

Yes that is IRCR and if you go you will probably want to talk your mom into moving there:nod:
As for the idler gear just replace it you have it out anyway. I would bet that your problem is in the spur and pinion tho..
I haven't had a chance to go get my plaque yet:cry:
Everyone seems to have problems spelling your name:confused:

firestardesign 03-10-2012 08:31 AM

Right On!

Right on Lavav! Keep up the good work! Yeah let's see if the new spur doesn't fix the noise. I've been wanting to try those new silent speed spurs too but $13 for a spur gear is a little pricey.

How did this happen?

I feel bad for not buying from HDRP, but getting all this sent to my door with free shipping is just convenient. One thing I will be getting from Andy is the dog bones. So I don't have to feel absolutely terrible about it.

firestardesign 03-10-2012 09:56 PM

Track.

I think this track is waaay sick.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0H6p...feature=colike

I've been watching the EOS series and wanting to do more indoor offroad like I did at RRCP. Just messing around and having fun. I had more fun there than I've had in months at HDRP. I prolly won't be back until we get a track rebuild and the track is packed. May not race until we hit Vegas, we'll have to see.

Oh and by the way Noah you shouldn't feel guilty about buying parts you need. If you can't get them locally ya gotta buy em somehow.

You might feel bad ordering from amain but you'll feel like a sucker ordering them them through HDRP so don't feel bad Noha, we get it. If I ask for another part from Andy that he should have but doesn't, and then insultingly offers to order it for me, I think I am going to make a cardboard sign and using a black marker scrawling in very bad handwriting in capital letters, "Will order parts for you for $5".
