Default Bought tlr 22 2.0 on ebay but it's a 1.0 ..return or keep elec and ask for $$ back?

Hey everyone,

Title says it. I can tell it's a 1.0 because of the shocks, chassis missing a screw hole that 2.0 has, and the steering rack is different than 2.0, also no "TLR" logo engraved on top side of chassis. I'm new to RC cars and didn't notice until I printed the manual and started looking at how to convert it to mid motor because it's currently a rear motor setup. So I'm wondering what you guys think - should I just return the thing and look elsewhere or maybe keep it and ask for some $$ back.

I paid $275 shipped and it also came with ..

tekin rsx esc
tekin 8.5t redline gen2 motor
savox 1290mg servo
new venom 4500mah 100c shorty battery

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Take the matter up with the seller. I'm sure you can work something out..

I definitely will, just wondering if I should return for full refund or try and ask for some money back ..electronics worth trying to keep?, maybe bash the 1.0 for a while sine I'm new to this hobby and buy a newer used roller later on. There's a nice indoor track by my place that I'd like to start going to. Am I over thinking this? ;-)

Thumbs up Ebay Refund

Request a refund from eBay regardless of whether or not the auction states refund or no refund. If the item is not as described you are entitled to get your money back. You can also request a refund from the seller but you don't have to go that route if he says no, is slow to respond or does not respond. My advice is open a case with eBay A.S.A.P.

Thanks for the replies. Just wanted to get thoughts as far as me asking for a full refund or saying "hey you can give me a full refund OR I keep it and you give me $$$ back" .. ask for $100 back or something like that. No?

IMO it depends what you want to do with the car. (race/bash etc.) Since your talking about mid-motor, it sounds like you want to race. Therefore I'd agree try to get some money back or refund.

But...again, IMO...I don't think you got totally screwed, you just didn't get a bargain like we all like to get. The seller probably didn't know what they had exactly. I see they have 100% feedback over 350 transactions.

Partial refund/full refund/chalk it up to live and learn are all solid options imo.

Maybe search ebay and here for how much you can get a 2.0 for.

Yeah, I don't think he knew. I'm going to ask for $75 back or return for full refund and see what happens. If I end up keeping it, I'll learn with it/bash until I find a deal on here or ebay for a 2.0 like you said. I would love to race.

Thanks for the reply, tommy ..and everyone else!!! I think this case is closed! Thanks!

Maybe ask for some money back. I race a 1.0 that's had 2.0 upgrades but still has 1.0 shocks. You could make the 1.0 pretty good by using a 3 gear mid gearbox conversion, bell crank steering, and 3.0 front arm conversion.

Thats good to know, Lunchie. Thanks. He said he copy and pasted the ad title with 2.0 in it and is giving $75 back.

Did they make a mid motor conversion kit for the 1.0's? I split the 2.0 manual into 2 sections - mid vs. rear setup and compared them page for page and made a parts list, but the prob is that I need a lot of different types of screws but only like 1 or 2 of them and when you add up all the little screw bags and other parts it's like $100. Maybe that's normal, but I'm thinking why not just buy a used 2.0 mid motor roller on here for a little more ..or a b5m. Whatever deal comes up.

yes it depends on what parts you already have.
if your car is a stock 1.0 rear motor with slider steering and no other parts then maybe better to sell it on and buy something else...
the 1.0/2.0 gearboxes are the same, AFAIK the main changes to 2.0 were suspension arms and shocks.
do you have any MM parts already?
if y0u only have rear motor parts, then it gets pricey. i cant comment on the extra screws etc for a MM conversion from rear as i bought my car as a MM (with rear motor parts as spares thrown in)

its always good to have spares anyway. buying upgraded 2.0/3.0 parts to race with and then keeping your old stuff as spares incase you crash, is a way to upgrade. Chances are if you break something in qualifying then your race night is over anyway so may as well chuck the old parts on for the rest of the nights racing

average price/values..

the RSX, $140...ish (based on asking prices here)
gen2 tekin motor..30 bucks...maybe
servo..30 bucks
Venom lipo...I don't value used Lipos

So that's about $200 for the electronics you got, and you paid about $75 for a 1.0 22....you did ok I guess. I don't know anyone that would pay more than about 75 bucks for a 1.0 22 these days.

IMO

The guy was cool, gave me $75 back no questions asked, so I got the whole thing for $200. I can live with that.

Thanks again for the info, Lunchie. I have no MM parts, only a list I made from comparing rear motor setup to mid motor from the manual and it's about $100 for the parts on ebay. I'm gonna bash the 1.0 and maybe do some of the cheaper upgrades you mentioned earlier since I haven't even driven an rc car since I was a kid (have great memories of my dad racing an rc10 and tamiya bigwig at shopping malls when I was about 4yrs old, haha) and keep an eye out for a used 2.0 MM roller, like you said. Sounds like a solid plan for now.

10-4 racer, thanks.
