Talking Dedication. Talk about a motivated seller!

I want to be careful how I word this, because I don't want to embarrass or upset the person I am talking about. However, with that being said, I really have to wonder how many people go to such lengths to sell a cheap item.

Let me set the stage for you.

The seller is offering an RC part for $20.00 here on the forum. He listed the part on 11/2014. Since that time, he has bumped the ad roughly 138 times (as of right now) in an effort to sell this part. 138 times!

Ok, here is how Time Machine would handle it, if it were my part. I would list it at $20. I would bump a few times and then maybe lower the price. After that, I would throw it on eBay, give it away, or throw it in the trash (yes, I really would).

So my question is - what would you do? Would you really devote seconds of your life, almost everyday, bumping a $20 item? Let's say ten seconds, times a 138 bumps, equals way too much time for a $20 part. At least in my opinion. What do you think?

Like I said, it's none of my business, but I thought it was an interesting topic. Some people might go on for years trying to sell this part, others might be like me. What say you?

IMO, this is easy. 138 bumps for a $20 item. GET A FRICKEN CLUE! NOBODY WANTS IT! THROW IT IN THE TRASH OR GIVE IT AWAY!!! That clear enough?

PM the guy and tell him I think he's a douche bag.

Please tell me it's not the idiot selling heat shrink tubing and wire scraps that was offered $15...years ago, and said NO. Having been bumping his thread ever since still looking for $20

You can fix ugly, but you can't fix stupid.

Agree, I'm amazed at the length of some of the sale threads. The ones for full kits/rollers at nearly new and held prices are just a different shade seems to me anyway. Granted it doesn't take much time to bump once posted but still.

I can't even find the time to try and sell the stuff that I really should find a better home for. Worried I wouldn't be seen as a good person in the case where I can't find the time to ship promptly. Also torn between selling as is cheap or taking the time to clean up and refresh as needed.

Guessing at least some may be those without families and such?

It's a social experiment to see how many people will waste valuable company time to look at the add. Please post a link for those of NOT (IMO) wasting company time.

I think this particular seller has many, many ads where he does this. In fact, I would bet that he does not contribute to the forum in any way, other than bumping his sale ads.

If I get time, I will have to investigate, only because I think this guy is an enigma. His persistence is awe inspiring.....lol

This guy is the absolute best! He's literally selling a small handfull of 1", 2", or 3" inch scraps of wire and shrink tubing for 15 or 20 bucks. He has been trying to sell it for YEARS. Racer and I visit the thread once or twice a year to get a good chuckle

Sorted by views its on page 8. There are some crazy huge threads in there, by either view or reply sorts.

I haven't seen it recently but I used to see a thread from a guy selling one spur gear of some sort every day for several months. To me, if I can't get more than $40 for it, it isn't worth my time to try and sell.

That's about what I'm thinking, certainly well above $20. Creating ad with pictures, communicating with prospects, boxing it up reasonably well, and shipping. And I even drive by a small easy in and out post office at least twice every work day. Rather just give it away to someone local if I can at that point.

I agree. A used motor or servo, I'm gonna put it in a flat rate USPS box costing me $6, add in PP fees (not arguing them) I'm lucky to get $30 on a $40 sale, assuming the buyer doesn't beat me down too far. Anything less, it's just not worth my time to sell it. I'll either give it away locally or throw it in the trash. And most of the time, the excitement on the local kids face when he gets an "upgrade item" for free is worth way more to me than the $ value.

There is a local seller who also sells on here too and I always get a good laugh when he tries to sell old or used cars for what it costs new or sometimes close to that. Constantly bumps all his own threads too.
