Default Traxxas acquiring all or part of HPI ?!?!

This wouldn't make less sense if it was April 1st. On the up side, if it is true, HPI parts supply won't be an issue much longer....

Cool... maybe they'll finally make a 1/8 buggy or truggy. It will look like a real one and everything and be just like their other cars that are 90% plastic and break within 5 minutes

Ground just shook as the Hpi diehards dropped to ground. If it's true, oh boy.
I have around 15 Hpi vehicle. Most have been very good. But the company has bee weird. Buying a new release has been a risk with parts. Going back to the SavageXS. 9 months for parts to be released. At that was 2010. I used to joke that one day their would be the Traxxas Savage.

Man how weird, I think HPI went through many changes through the years. I wish the old office and operation was still in place in the early mid 90's with Kent Clauson and limited vehicles that were great racers, still have my RS12G, RS10G and HPI Super F1. Id like to think they branched off too far, instead of keeping focused. Wheely King, Mini Savage, that Q32 thing, Cup Racer etc. those are all vehicles that made no sense to me as a racer, but perhaps to a Traxxas Fan Boy they do.

Be nice if they got back to focusing on great race cars, give HPI to Traxxas and let Hot Bodies live again by itself.

seems to me more like traxxas is buying hpi europe for its network of dealers and shutting it down thus eliminating any european market for hpi products. when companies are having issues and they lose an entire market, they go out of buisness.
smart move by the traxxas suits, probably the cheapest way to eliminate a competitor.

HPI Europe has been in receivership for some time , as evidenced by the notes at the bottom of the websites. HPI racing now owned by Hobbico has already selected new distributors in Europe , so this new merger wouldn't really eliminate anything . It would add some resources though if someone were trying to get some European exposure.

Taking a company that is in financial dismay into a lawsuit, is a tactic used for a take over. If this is true, Traxxas will have a huge say over how things are run not only at HPI EU, but in the US as well. This may work good or bad, good as in maybe the parts distribution will improve, bad in more RTR garbage...

You do realize that RTR garbage is the reason many of these companies can have a race team right?

I was just saying that as a perspective from the quality of race level cars
I've seen many new racers come with their RTRs to the track and not even finish the first qualifier in one piece. Some of them gave up, some of them came back with race quality cars and did much better.

Anyway, hope parts distribution will be fixed soon.

Think it's the easiest, fastest way for Traxxas to get competitive. To me they are a basher company and not taken seriously at the track. THis might get them some creds without having to eliminate the basher vehicles.
