Default things that aren't meant for rc and are better than the original?

I couldn't say it in a shorter way, sorry

I'm wondering if you guys could share what products you use for your rc stuff, for whatever reason, that are better than dedicated rc products you'll find in a rc shop.

Plano tackle box for tools, and a converted CPU power supply.

I would not say these are better, but as good at least. And way cheaper. I use the Proline tire bands now and love the tug tab, but before that I used these for a long time and they worked great for 1/10. They sell them everywhere. You can find them usually 10-12 for $2.

Also, shelf liner makes a great pit-mat. 18x48 is what you will commonly see. I see them at Walmart for $4-$5.

this is more expensive but it works way better and smells way better.

there's all kinds of tools that will work instead of the expensive hobby stuff. especially the nut drivers. no reason to buy the $50+ set of those. but I've never found better allen drivers than hobby stuff. or at least the losi set I have.
hands down better than anything youd find at a tool store or auto parts store.

Tooth brush for putting on tire sauce. Better than the bingo top that's on the bottle.
Just keep it in a safe place so you dont use it on your teeth, may make your gums soft and sticky.

nail varnish remover to clean the body prior to stickers. In fact I've never had to put that stuff on my nails ever.

The two best examples I have, are:

1. Red backed, grey, 3M, giant roll of double sided tape. WAY stronger than RC brand tape, and comes off 100x cleaner
2. Radio shack brand 60/40 rosin core solder. Can't be beat.
