Default Into 1:1 or scale Karts?

Last weekend, I bought a Turnigy "1/18" Kart from 62 bugzilla. I want something to bash on the dock with, and my current Dock Monster (BL 4s Cen ME16) is just too big and it's speed (this thing has done clean backflips from a standing start... on flat pavement) makes damage almost a guaranteed by-product of any use in close quarters. I got 2 mins out of the last run.

While I waited for the seller to decide to take my offer, I checked parts for price (great) and availability.... and went ahead and ordered another kit from HK USA.

That should do it, right? Well, I got inspired to do my usual... grossly overpowering rigs... and decided to try to build a beastie kart. A mangled sign, and some delrin got me this far (roughed in). It's getting a 2848 4300kv Tacon, and a HW 60A ESC. Should boogie.

I'm looking for pics of competitive 1:1s for ideas on bodywork, especially overhead (for details). Any clues on scale kart racing would also help.

Decided to get an HK 60A 17V ESC, and go 4s. The motor is rated for [email protected] 8.4V, so it should be fun at 12.8... considering the weight and the fact that over 95% of it is less than an inch from the ground.

If it gets boring, I'll make a deck for the ESC, and take it to 6s.

I'm thinking about trying a scaler kart someday. Could use some basic dimensions from current 1:1 stuff, and ideas for details.

The kit came, and I tore through the boneyard to see what I had. The motor (380) is from a Half-8, the speedo from an ME 16 Cen. I made a Delrin adapter (it comes set up for a 20mm dia motor), and a 3s LiFe (1200mah) pack. Weighs 411g. It boogies.

The most fun I've had for $60, in a long time.
