Default track layout software?

Is there any good software available, for making track layout suggestions?

We are thinking about making a 1/8 scale offroad track, and it would be great to have a tool like that .

When I did my personal track I used Solidworks, also have used AutoCAD. Not sure if there is any track specific software but you could try Google Sketchup, you can get a free version and do 3D layouts or 2D.

It is a PITA to figure out, if you are only wanting to do 2D you can just use paint. Otherwise as far as 3D programs go non of them are a breeze for beginners.

have dabbled with this from time to time.. http://www.zanthrax.nl/index.php?id=20

best thing you can do is draw up the perimeter and iconic items on a sheet of grid paper and start drawing ideas. if you keep the drawing aspect in proportion then much of the "if it will fit" stuff will be done for you. just don't get caught up in the square or maze track syndrome.

CAD is cool too if you like to play with that stuff.
