The FORM FACTOR of the tablet is kind of neat. It needs to be a full blown PC though, not a watered-down toy.

Exactly. Make one as powerful as a decent netbook and it might be worth having.

even if it did run the programs without problem, like was already said: windows isnt touch based and it would end up being kinda like a remote desktop. cool but i love my ipad. apple just needs to find a way to run flash

If Mac OS was so great, then why is there a need to have Boot Camp (Windows virtual machine) included with it?

People chasing technology...

I don't buy into it imo.

A Basic/intermediate level android handset is everything I need.

Whilst on the move...

I have a HTC Wildfire.

makes calls, recieves and sends emails, 3g/wifi internet, 5mpix camera, bluetooth, sms, mms, facebook app, view documents, English to Russian translation app, a few basic games to kill time now and then, connect to a usb cable too for data storage if need be.

I can find most app's from the android store. job done.

For anything else, I have a laptop with wifi, or i'm at work with a desktop PC....

If I want gaming, I have a 320Gb PS3.

If I want portable gaming? I wouldnt buy an expensive phone to do that...

Simple - PSP all the way, and connect it to my ps3 when I need to, not some oversized screen that is too big to carry around without a carry bag of some kind.

I've tried using a Iphone 2G and 3G, I didn't see anything special with them.

An ipad is just a bigger version without being able to make calls.

Iphone....

2mpixel camera (wow )

apps (we all like them I guess)

games (nice graphics)

internet (good speed)

wifi (nice to have)

ITUNES (Another programme to get involved with when using the phone... why overcomplicate and over market an mp3 Integrate it into the phone software ffs! And is a rip off)

Comfortable screen size... yes.

What's the big deal with iphones and ipads I've not been sucked in, and unlikely to be sucked in too.

Just my 2 cents..

BTW...I own an iPhone, iPad, iPod, and MAC Book Pro....LOL
I don't own any of that besides a ipod and I agree!

Laptops are lap too hot when running. A tablet/ipad doesn't really warm up much, so it's much more comfortable, if ya know what I mean.

If all you're going to do so is sit the ipad on your desk where the laptop would go then yeah, I get it.

It's really the portability thing, very light, not hot, and very long battery life.

No idea on netbooks though - do they get toasty?

I don't run my netbook long enough for it to get toasty

I have a motorola xoom tablet with android 3.0. I'm not for or against apple but this xoom does exactly what I want it to do. I dont know if its an I pad killer but its definitely a solid alternative. I use it primarily for work, quick books online document reading, email, GPS etc. At home my wife plays angry birds and I use it for books. I haven't touched my net book since I got it.

If I'm going to get a tablet, I'll get a ZT-180 from ebay. Runs android, higher spec than the original iPad, and 1/4 the price.

It's the only virus currently available for Mac.
