Our little Glow diesels ran just fine on Castor Bean oil for years.

I prefer a chunk of hersey bar and a tea spoon of honey at every oil change. This helps with nothing and taste great too.

mobil 1 5000, change it every 4500 with filter. used Castrol for a long time, its good oil too. usually use a fram filter. also do a kerosine flush every 25 to 30,000 miles. really keeps the oil journals clean and helps oil delivery and pressure on high milage engines. I have nearly 180,000 miles on my 1994 camaro and it still runs in the low 12's on street tires and pump gas. All the "go fast" parts were installed with about 7000 miles on the car and it has lived a pampered but hard driven life since. just my 2 cents

NO!, Your in Australia, down under, bottom half of the planet so all of your oil stays in the valve cover and never gets dirty.

redline for me.....z- 71 switched ALL fluids at 12000 miles. 10 k between oil changes filters at 3500. 150 k on the truck now and the vortec still gets 16 mpg on the highway, uses no oil and great power. 5w30 and still maintains 40 psi oil pressure when hot..hard to argue with that...

Clean oil>brandname oil. Change it AND YOUR FILTER every 3000 and you could be running Cooking oil.

Most oil filters are in bypass by 2200 miles anyway. Once an engine is broken in, it doesn't produce much in the way of dirt and deposits. Flush the products made every 3K and they don't have a chance to accumulate.
i am sure the 99 cent filters are in bypass long before 2200

I run Amsoil Full synthetic and substitute a quart for Lucas Oil Stabilizer.

Which reminds me, the Teg is due for an oil change.

Amsoil or Rediline once a year with spectrum analysis. The oil samples have proved that once a year is fine!
