i bought a camcorder last week and taped a little race last weekend, and now im trying to watch it on my pc,but it wount let me,it keeps on saying this
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer.

Might be a good idea to first import the video file into windows movie maker, a free video editor that comes with windows, and then export it from there into a new windows media movie file.

Here you go:

K-lite codec pack

Or better yet, stop using Windows Media, and use VLC.

What he said. VLC is the only player that has enough settings to give me the right colours in my media centre PC, every other player gives me freaky contrast and saturation.

Firstly, I'm migrating that PC to linux as soon as I can work out (IE be bothered) to force the resolution to that of the TV, and secondly I upgraded the graphics card and it works properly now Looks interesting though, might use it some time.

VLC player. It's free. Also, GOM player. Free as well. I'm sure there's newer players out there, but I haven't had to upgrade. Between these two, I'm straight.
