You know what would be really scary is if that thing had some speed.

I don't know it is ready to carry wounded soldiers. Sure it won't fall over, but the angle the main section makes when it makes corrections will make it not a comfortable ride.

Who cares about comfort if a robotic stretcher gallops in and saves my life!

the most amazing part of this prototype isnt the actual mechanics of its movement; the software it runs is amazing. if you look closely, the actual "steps" it takes is still very machine like versus actual human movements where we operate via spring loaded type of movement which is more advanced.

what amazes me is how this thing recovers for adverse conditions, like suddenly being kicked sidedways, tackling various slopes, and the most impressive is its recovery on ice. this i attribute more to its software more than its mechanical design.

-edit-

i did not see the end where it was doing its running/jumping trials. it is using an internal spring to store its energy for a light gallop and jump which is very clever design but i dont know if it can preload and store energy in the springs like what we do with our muscles.
