I have all of the Gran Turismo titles for my console, so of course its Gran Turismo for the Playstation platforms. For my PC then its GT2 racing simulator.

Any of the GT (I have A spec, 3 and another one called prologue on my ps2)

Or driven to destruction (an unlucky charm to my rc racing no doubt ) Street Racing Syndicate, any of the NFS series (dont know about pro street, only got nfs2,underground and carbon).

As for rally games, Colin mcrae 3 or 04, Richard Burn rally is good too, but boy is it damn hard CM is much better for grab a controller and race it easy.

Cant go wrong with any of them though

I'm with Gundam (unless GT2 is a totally different game)...

Driving Sim = GTR2 rocks on PC... Imagine, GTR2 gameplay with GT5 graphics = WOW!

F1 Championship for PS3 follows a mile 2nd... ultra realistic graphics, but lacks on gameplay...

Gundam... no worries... the game had so much good reviews that I didn't even read the manual from too much excitement. Several hours later, I still couldn't make a complete lap without hitting anything... "sim racing" redefined!

Gran Turismo series is my favorite for consoles, and Trackmania Nations is my favorite for PC.

Console: Right now on my PS2 it's a tie between NASCAR '07 and Gran Turismo 4

PC: I'm hopelessly addicted to Cross Racing Championship 2005. It's basically the "budget" version of DiRT; 6 maps, 8 cars, about $20. Check out http://www.crc-game.com

There's also a sweet little 3D freeware game out there called GeneRally. For a 14MB program the gameplay is up there with many full-blown racing sims

you do know that starting with nfsu theres a story line in the game right? and you just hacked out the middle with out haveing need for speed most wanted
and pro street has nothing to do with the series but it is sorta fun, but its based on racing on the track not the streets

I have never played a game that felt more like driving a real car then Live For Speed

Not a ton of flash to the game, maybe 6 tracks (though up to 5 or 6 configurations each) and a small list of fictional cars (though they have each category pretty well represented)...But the physics and feedback are amazing.

Try the free demo, it will run on almost any computer, requires almost no bandwidth, only like a 300mb download...and graphics good enough (probably PS2/GT4 level)

http://www.lfs.net/

I used to think GT4 was a great sim....Now I don't even like to play it because it feels so cheap.

I've never played GTR2, but I hear its basically the same physics engine as rFactor...I think it does a good job of high strung, high downforce open wheel cars, but fails completely at street and light race cars. LFS is better at open wheel cars then rFactor is at street cars...but still lacks a good areo model, so its a little forgiving at times.

live for speed is the bomb.. most realistic sim ive played.

the cars are real with fictional names. the xrt is simply a chrysler conquest.

the 60 bux they charge for s2 its worth every penny.. they could charge 100 bux for it and it would still be worth it...

give it a try.

I have tried Live for Speed......its pretty good, but the platform is too "European".....more Brittish or UK than anything really. Lack of known decent cars is a turn off for me; at least GTR2 have known cars..
