Great little car for the money. (Avatar has nothing to do with what I'll say ) We have just a regular Cooper, nothing special. The S has more HP in it and is a 6 speed manuel. They get a few less mpg then a regular cooper would. Roughly 2-3 more gallons less then a plain cooper. The newer 07 models are all 6 speed if you choose to go with a manuel. There fun to drive, lots of pep from 2-3 gear. Another thing to add is the gear shift seems "tight" everytime you switch gears. It will never loosen up and always have a tight feeling. (Ours is a manuel) However, they suck in snow and everytime I drive ours, I'm afraid that I'm going to scarp or bottom out as it sits too low to the ground. Driving down the road especially at night pretty much any car or truck will blind you as you sit right in the path of their headlights. If your a tall person, it's a tight fit. The back isn't for people over 5 feet (Hence the name Mini). Everything is opposite to the American standard. The speedometer is directly in the center, your rpm senser sits right on the steering wheel, and all of the switches are either on the dash or next to the gearshift. None of the controls are on the door at all.

Accidents-
If you rear end someone, kiss that car good bye! You get 5 airbags, two up front, two on the sides, (Drive and passanger) and the fifth one I haven't ran across yet. (Might be in the rear)

For the money it's worth it. Roughly 30mpg, and a good return investment if you choose to sell it. (We're talking for a used Mini, there almost the same price as a new one. They hold there value well)

Another car to consider is a hybrid. The Toyota Prius is another great model getting 45-50mpg. (Another car we have)

Looking for the ultimate cooper? Try finding a GP edition, usually offset blue in color, red mirrors, no backseat and a full rollcage if I remember correctly. Also has the numbers embled on top of the roof in which tells you the number you have out of 2000. Has a silver roof color to it (06' was the only year to have that.). The silver roof was a signature to the 06's as they were the last of the overall body frame to be produced. The 07's look nothing like the 06's and are more wider and sit taller then a 06. You will never see a silver top MINI again unless it's a silver body and has the roof color in the body color. Has the John Cooper Works package all done up and a few extra pieces and HP added. Good luck finding one, only 2000 of these puppies were made and sent amongst the entire world

Learn how to drive it?....... It is safe to drive?

Are you guys kidding me?

If it were to be driven, say "Europe"? then yeah ill give it benefit of the doubt.

But in the land of SUV's? Minivans and not to mention Trucks? i have seen cars like ford 500 and nissan maxima which are by no means small? end up being all mashed up being involved with larger sized vehicles and you guys think a Go-kart errrmmm i mean Mini will fare any better?

You can be the best defensive driver around, you look you scan you can manouver safely but accidents do Happen.

The amount of horror stories i hear about mini's involving severly injured people or have died.
