No!

To a certain extent, if you drive any vehicle, you'll at the very least do "decent" in another vehicle. Jeff Gordon and Montoya switched cars for a press event a couple years ago - and both actually did well by lap times in both cars - so its more a matter of skill than it is anything else. When they did this car switch, Jeff Gordon was about a second slower than Montoya's best lap of the day.

The only difference, like i said, is that NASCAR is more of a driver's car, where as the Indy & F1 cars have electronics to help compensate. Hell, the electronics in the steering wheel for the F1 cars push the steering wheel cost up to $50,000. The aluminum steering wheel I have on my race car costs less than $50.

Comparing F1 and NASCAR is like apples and oranges. The cost is still high, but there is no reason to deny advancement in technology. Our floundering auto market may just get a bump from it.

a nascar car will never pull the same amount of "G's" as a F1 car so there is no need to compare the 2

Yes we will compare F1 and Nascar because those are the 2 top wheeled motorsports. If you don't like Nascar get outta here and make a F1 thread.

So why are you bothering to post in this thread? Does it somehow make you feel better to insult other people because they like something you don't.

And yes we can compare F1 to NASCAR. Say whatever you want about F1, the simple fact of the matter is IT'S BORING!!! Give me 43 idiots banging fenders at 180 mph over 20 cars on a 3 mile road course where maybe 3 guys have a chance at winning.

well back to the topic, I hope that Toyota does well in NASCAR and may be that will bring in more competition from the imports.

I would start a F1 thread but there is already one http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3306

I would also like to point out that the thread is really about the foreign manufacturers in NASCAR, and NASCAR's resistance to change; i.e. the addition of a foreign car.

This was not meant to be a NASCAR thread. You already have one of those.

OK, let's start with the definition of what a "foreign manufacturer" is.

Does that mean:
> Car built outside of the country? According to the attached article at the start of this thread, that would be: Chevy Monte Carlo (Canada) and Ford Fusion (Mexico).

> Companies headquartered outside of the US? That would be Daimler Chrysler and Toyota.

My take on the whole thing is:
Being "foreign" has very little to do with any of this, especially when it's tough to decide what foreign means.

If people don't like Toyota cuz they screwed up other race series, that's fine, just say so. I'd bet NASCAR understands its money making machine enough not to let Toyota mess it up.

You might be talking about Talledega....but for most races.....you won't get 5 lead changes a lap and 3 casr door to door. You forgot to mention the endless yellow flags. How many laps does it take to clean up debris? NASCAR races are way too long due to this reason. Too many rules that changed the way races are run these days. Give me the NASCAR of 20 plus years ago...then I'll watch again.
