Fairly new to the race scene and really like Cory's films. Would someone educate me on how and why this would effect his film productions?

proline was his main source of funding to produce those videos. horizon may see this as an unneeded expenses but i sure hope not. its quite expensive to fly him from edmonton multiple times a year i imagine.

Definitely gives Horizon vehicles leg up. Will racing competition want people using Proline?

Noticed traxxas started producing their own tires to further let people waste more money on traxxas upgrades. This would be great response from Horizon.

A lot of people like Proline's upgrade parts for Traxxas. Those parts are probably not going to exist now. I don't see horizon wanting to sponsor drivers running for teams other than TLR, so that hurts too. Doesn't seem like a win for the hobby.

The exact thing that starts to happen when theres too many players in the game, when mark left AKA we nearly saw them fold aswell.
something will start to happen in the 1/8 buggy market at some point, RC racing is far to small for so many brands, we nearly had kyosho go under but they got held up by a bank. tamiya left the race scene because of the above reasons.

Remember when there were only a few brands ? massive race teams and you actually had to be good to be sponsored. such a shame.

Default Horizon/Pro-Line Bombshell!!!

So if you havenít heard the news, Horizon Hobby announced around mid-day that they have acquired Pro-Line Racing. I donít think anyone saw this one coming.

I guess consolidation of the industry continues...

Why only negative speculation? Maybe I am being too optimistic however, a lot of good can happen from an acquisition. Beyond wider distribution and marketing, new/better access to resources, programs, buying opportunities, additional development funding and (most importantly since it is their livelihood) wider job/career opportunities for the employees, etc..

My sincerest hope is that the manufacturing pieces that are currently in the US remain and do not get off-shored.

Call it naivety, I want this to be a win for us hobbyists/consumers.

Pro-Line has been a stand-alone icon for so long in the industry, I cannot image them being anything else. Honestly, I do not know how to react or reply.

Short term? Long term? Guess wait to see how it plays out.

I bet HH start using Pro-Line tires on their rtr's. TLR is under the HH umbrella and they still make race vehicles. I imagine PL will still make race tires and expand their product lines for other categories. I doubt the consumer will notice a difference post HH buyout.

They have purchased several brands over the past few year. Almost none have been improved.

I’d say most do not think this is going to go good.
