i remember that. it wasn't that the G's were to high. it was that the G's were so high for to long and the drivers didn't get enough of a break between corners. caused a few crashes if i remember right.

Something along those lines. They ended up canceling the race after crashes during practice. Think last year was first year back.

That was Champ Car, the old turbo Indy cars. The drivers were suffering brown out, not completely unconscious but enough to slow their reflexes. They ran a test a few months before but they didn't run long enough to feel the effects.

Today's Indy cars are slower and not as much corner speed, so no issue.

i think they also had the same problem at Fontana and was it Vegas(?) and they stopped running there as well.

and in other news the contentious car horn that iv been hearing for the last 5 minutes turned out to be a pretty serious car accident! that Honda Fit is a TOTAL right off! person in it was being treated on the grass next to the intersection and was being loaded onto a stretcher. fire truck, ambulance and police all over the place. the mini van on the other hand appeared to have been driven to the side of the road and parked (although all the airbags appeared to have deployed). drivers side front damage on both vehicles. but damn, that honda... what's left of the headlight was probably 6" from the door!

so on my way home from work i saw a guy driving an RC scaler in the "creek" in the park. iv wondered why nobody does that there (aside from having to pay to get into the park) and now iv seen someone do it. idk what it was, it had a blue Toyota Land Cruiser body... possibly a Tamiya(?)

Well, after taking my time and waiting over 100 hours, I’m now owner of both a 2 and 4wheel 1/10 buggy’s. Just couldn’t pass on a slightly older Serpent 4wheel. Low investment to get a feel for it. And an 18 XRay xb2 carpet buggy. Covers both the turf and the indoor dirt/clay track. If the opportunity and I feel my ability is good to give a race a shot.

Wasn’t bragging. It is still an RC site.

I’m watching “Lady in the Lake” from 1947. Phillip Marlow detective story. Filmed in first person view. First movie filmed this way.

Itís been kinda slow outside this thread, and here as well. The Associated new 4wheel race buggy thread has been active. Another silly argument in the CanAm series.

Hobby is in a down place. I still canít believe the scaler things is holding on. But it is what it is.

Axial has a 1/24 scaler.

Associated has a new scaler thing coming. Gotta be a vehicle, along with some kind of in house/aftermarket

i think the reason the scaler thing is holding up is because it's made up of guys who want to build, fabricate and customize. they're basically model car guys. they're a different breed.

That does make sense. And donít mind spending on a shelf queen or two, or three.

Plus with 3d printing become more common, designing their own stuff.

the shelf queen collector goes along with being a model car guy. build, build, build, and fuss over details. just to put it on a shelf and have it collect dust.
