Voltage is a tiny, tiny piece of the puzzle and says nothing about acceleration. The fact the quickest rc is 2wd shuts that down. Also according to your logic a 12s 380 sized 100kv motor can out accelerate any 2wd.
That is an 1/8th scale. To run a 380 size motor in it would be idiotic. Try again.

If there's plenty of traction, I don't see how 4wd would have an advantage over 2wd. Too much parasitic loss in a 4wd.

Of course if this RC no prep thing takes off, maybe 4wd finds an advantage

Like comparing apples and oranges. Scale 1320ft 1/4 mile for 1/8scale is 165ft. Difficult to compare performance parameters when that is taken into account. Just saying...

Quoted for posterity.

Again, NO.

Dude, have you ever even raced RC drag?

Bring your 12S Serpent 977e to ANY RC drag event and put your money where your mouth is.
You won't even challenge Pro-Stock let alone Funny Car or Top Fuel.

Not over 132ft from a dig.

Just stop now. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I said a 12s power system. You know the battery/esc/motor is the power system? You take 4 3s hard case lipos and wire them up to give you 12s, you have a 12s capable esc, and a motor of the correct kv and you would have way more power than anything 2wd could handle. You have to make an appreciable amount more power, but it can be done.

Here is my final answer. Whatever you prefer running and enjoy the most is best for drag racing.

Do you know how fast those cars go around corners? Do you not think they could be made to go fast in a straight line?

What size power systems are being run by these fastest 2wd drag cars? Because however big it is, if you make a system with significantly more power and 4wd it will out accelerate 2wd setup.

Lastly, rc drag racing is lame. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to run for a split second on a ****ing glue trap. Straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers.

That is some seriously nice hardware. I don`t think you could go wrong with any of their chassis kits.
