Default Ho B Max - What are you planning to run/race?

I am trying to help the shop stock some of the normal breakable items for you precious babies. Please post what platforms/chassis you guys are planning to run at Ho B Max.

Yes... Tis Me. It was good. We had enough to run a 17.5 touring class and a couple of VTA's came out as well. Great time had by all. We will probably add Sunday afternoon races soon. The owner says that would be great. I'm thinking of a start time of around 3 or 4pm

Sunday afternoons would be perfect, especially if we can start this weekend I'm ready to try out my new car!

I'm about a short 30 min drive here just outside of Roxboro.

I've been flying planes mostly. I've also been working on building a couple of 1/10 drag cars. But there aren't many places to run those.
Last month I picked up an Associated TC4 that I'm building and setting up as a VTA car. Not sure if I'll actually compete in races yet or just run around the track for fun. But it would be nice to have extra VTA bodies, wheels and tires on hand instead of having to order them.

I believe one of the guys in my club is also running cars there.

Those indeed be the lucky guys. 10 minutes, must be nice.

I was looking at it and from google maps Id have a 2-1/2 hr drive. IDK how accurate that is though. Factor in traffic and it could be longer. But if google bases its times off of an assumed speed of 55,(the Interstate is 70). Then the drive could be a bit shorter maybe. I just want something closer. The next closest track Ive been to once is rosewood. Which is 1-1/2 hours out.

When I showed up there and introduced myself, the owner said, Wilmington?, youre a long ways from home arent you? :lol

Also what spec tires do you guys run there? Or do you run what you choose.

I have been driving a minimum of 2hrs to race for the last 15 yrs. it's just what it is. If you want to race you gotta go where the tracks/racers are. Lol

If Google says 2:30. I bet you can knock 30-45 off that. Just look at the miles to get a better judgement.

As for tires it's run what you want as long as they are rubber.

Most of the faster guys are using Sorex 28 premounts

Thanks. My next question was going to be if most were running 28 or 32.

Default looking for a carpet on road facility

Hellow NC racers. I just moved to New Bern from suburban Washington DC, and I'm hoping to find an onroad carpet track within a reasonable distance from our new NC home. My main interest is pancars (1/12th, WGT, or both). Does Ho B Max run either of those classes? And, if so, what is the racing schedule please?

Perry -- i didn't know you moved. I got some info from racers at this track. They use another forum too at www.carolinasrcracers.com

Sorry to hear that... haha But seriously... Rosewood in Goldsboro (about an hour from New Bern and my sad home) races indoor carpet oval. I used to race there a few years ago when they ran Touring Car. But it died out. There is a new track here (this forum) in the NorthGate mall in Durham. It's about 2.5 hours or less from New Bern. So far the primary class is Touring 17.5 blinky. There are 1/12th scalers there from time to time running 17.5 blinky. And the other class is TT01 (Tamiya TCS rules I think?), when they show up. They race every Wednesday night and every Sunday. I don't know about Wednesday times, but on Sundays the door opens at 10am and racing starts at 1pm. 3 qualifiers and then the mains.

As Hanulec posted, we mostly chat on the other forum. This track just opened it's doors a few months back and we are trying to build a racer base. If you have any other questions, just head to the other forum or PM on here.

thanks for the info guys. Once we get settled in the new house and I've got a little more available spare time, I'll surely be checking out the NC venue(s). After 25 years of RC play, I'm just not ready yet to put the transmitter down. Again, thanks.
