What type of batteries do you recommend for the 1/16 traxxas models for oval racing? Also have you ever dropped a 1/10 Traxxas vxl system in one of them?

I don't think there would be adequate clearance for the larger speed control. The cars are nearly undriveable as they are with a 2 cell. If you want to try insanity I will let you try a single 3 cell. As far as good batteries are concerned there is a good useable set up from Hobby King and there are these three from Ebay that are very good as well. The first two numbers are equipped with a Traxxas type connector while the third would have to be converted. The numbers are 281856117853, 272098589116 and the one that would need the connector change is 2722344939.

Any luck on paint yet?

for some reason I can’t find those eBay listings, but I’ll keep looking. As for paint, I just used some plastidip until I can get some proper paint. I also bought a used, painted body that I can use as a beater while I figure out the track.

For paint-have you tried the rustoluem peel coat??

Sorry for the slow response but have been on the road. No I haven't tried it. It might be worth a shot though. Post pictures of your results if you get a chance.

Remember everybody that we will run the VTA cars on the oval this event in conjunction with the late models. So that will be two oval groups this week and one road course group which will be the CHR/MOD group. If anybody has some input lets get it out here.

Default CHR oval

I suggest that we run the CHR/ mod group on the oval. When we were out there, we really enjoyed running our cars on the oval so much more than the road course. Could we also schedule a kids race on the oval?

I have a plan in place that will let it happen. As far as a kid specific race, how old are the kids? We usually group drivers by skill level which tends to keep the groups evened out. Some of the kids that have competed are better than a few of the adults.

Great! Vic said we may run with the late models or something. We just liked the oval. I'm sure we'll do some road racing as some point too. My youngest is 8. He had a ball on the oval last time with a small 1/18 scale Latrax Rally (held his own too). We are working on a couple of 1/16 Traxxas oval cars for the late model racing, but we're not ready to run those yet.

Make sure you bring the 1/16 Traxxas cars along and we will help you with set up concerns and maybe additional parts for durability. They are already about as durable as a concrete block but there are some bits that make things even more durable.

Our main goal with this entire first season is to find out what is out there, bring them in so we can both meet and assist everyone and finally introduce the group to a structured race program. We feel that we will all gain by doing things this way.

See you Saturday.

As do I. I expect a good group for the late models and hope for better than the average for both VTA and CHR/MOD.

Vic picked up a Tamiya car but we can't figure out which it is so bring your knowledge of the brand.

Weather looks pretty good for Saturday with the exception of PM thunder showers. Let's see if we can get it all in before they start up.

Just got back from cutting the grass so everything looks nice and spiffy. Right now the track is nearly ankle deep in leaves but we will have it cleared and ready to go in the morning.

See everybody then.
