Since it is my first time, how do you access the track from 56 or the ring road?

Access is from the ring road. If you look closely at the map you will see a road that leads right to it.

Is there any spot in the camping area to have a campfire?

If someone had a portable fire pit we could probably do that. The grass is cut short and we have had plenty of rain. The fire bans should be off.

Even with all the rain we have had, the track is not holding any water. The track is going to be excellent for the weekend.

That awesome to hear Jamie! We'll be rolling in tonight about 7:30. Is the gate open or will someone be there to let us in?

I hope the race goes well this weekend, everytime I look at the forecast it looks worse, I swear those people that make forecasts have no idea. Was supposed to be sunny tomorrow and all weekend in Stettler, now environment Canada is saying rain tomorrow and then cloudy Saturday and Sunday.

The weather in Calgary today (not that it is the same as Stettler) has been nasty so far with a large amount of rain and pretty heavy flooding everywhere.

I'll have to make a decision on the hotel by 4pm today, so hopefully things really do look ok there.

One good thing about the Stettler track is it does not hold any water. Even if it rained all day Friday, the water would be gone Friday night. It has rained for almost a week in Stettler and last night the track was just damp. The forcast is calling for 20+ temps for Saturday and Sunday with less than 1mm of rain. Just enough so we won't need to water. Perfect conditions for a race, if you ask me.

+1. I have to laugh though. Back in 2005/06 when I first started racing, there were no roofs on any drivers stands, races went rain or shine. I even remember a race in red deer one year where ppl had plastic bags over their transmitters to keep them dry. I'm one of the guys that will race in any weather (as long as it is safe for the Marshall's to get around and it won't wreck the track of course!) and now everyone freaks out with a little rain in the forecast

If you say it'll be good then that's good enough for me, I'll be there.

I guess that leaves Da Bull out in any weather. No tripping this year Bruce!

Jeff I have to agree. I will race in any weather too, but I can't say I would like to marshal when the mud sticks to your boots like cement blocks.
