Hey Guys,

Anyone have any info on the Cleveland Warm-up Race being held in Ottowa in November.

I'm looking to attend and need more details.

Anyone got any?

John, I'll be out your way in 3 weeks for the Edmonton leg of your tri-cities.

Yes you gotta love that 100x48 track to trade paint in.

Joel,

I guess your're right, it is how you use it!! It would be nice to be able to run our track all year long. How do you guys afford to do that...ie.cover rent and heat for such a large area. Is the track privately owned or does the club have dues and fees comensurate to cover such costs?

We have looked into it here but just can seem to find the funds, so any help would be appreciated. You can reach me at [email protected] or by phone at 780-470-4489.

Thanks,

John Hughes

In short its not easy.

The club here is 15+years old and for most of its life racing was held every 2 weeks at temporary locations. So set up and tear down was a nessasary evil, in resent years we got lucky and found semi permenant locations at very low prices but where not able to over use the locations.

The club in the last 2 years took a big leap(gamble) and leased a location 9000sq/ft. We pay all the bills through membership and dues. And we run a canteen. ITs 100% paid for and run by volunteer members(in other words we are open 7 days a week if members choose to opening the place) We also have close ties with local hobby shops who contribute a small amount of money to help out and with prizes that we use to make money off of 50/50 draws. ITs been tuff and we need more new members to keep afloat.

I have always said it would be a 100% no brainer if a local hobby shop closed its doors and moved into our track and paid rent. But its a dream of mine
