Just a reminder the Annual General Meeting is Friday night before Racing. If you aren't racing please show up for the meeting.

The first tester motor has arrived! It's from SkyRC, the same folks that make all your favourite 380 in a 540 can motors. I'll be handing it off to somebody smarter than me for actual dyno testing. There are a few more in the mail from other suppliers, but I'm kinda hoping this is the one.

They actually sent a complete Leopard combo, with programming card, but the motor is the key thing here.

EDIT: Initial testing (CRUDE) is showing the motor is right in the middle between my "good" Orca and my "really awful, it's got no shims in it, thoroughly baked" Orca. More results soon.

Was at track today cleaned some debris and trash. lots of glass to be swept. i used my pliers to try and reattach parts of the fence. we shall see see if it holds up. all the wood was piled and moved for easier moving to a truck bed(that was the intention at least). loose thrash like broken board parts and small chunks of wool all in a black garbage bag and ready for disposal.
ill be at track tomorrow at 2pm. if you can make it out.
Have a good a weekend!

If anyone's in Calgary this coming weekend, Karz is looking to roll out the carpets for the day. We need enough people to make it worthwhile, so please post on the Karz thread if you can make it. We're looking at mini, CTA and Stock TC.

It easier to quote Cal from CARCAR on the mini situation.
"Ok mini drivers the results are in. Indeed the Skyrc motor is the same as the ORCA motor. The big difference is that it will be orange. What does this mean to mini you ask? Well it means you won't have to go out and try various 21.5 motors to find one that will work in a mini. Since Orca no longer makes the Spark esc it will be open blinky esc, feel free to use your Spark if you haven't blown it up yet. You will be able to use your old Orca motor too. If you want a fresh new motor the cost will be around $35 if you get in on the group buy. I need to know how many we need? PM me how many that you need. All of Western Canada is getting in on the first order. After that you can buy one from various Hobbyshops. They will cost a little more after the initial group buy. I suggest you buy a couple if you think you may need one down the road. The other issue is that we need a large enough order for Skyrc to make them for us. If you were planning on buying a new 21.5 anyway that's the price of 4 of these motors. Help us continue to make mini a spec motor.
Big Thank you to Jim Evans for all your work to make this possible."
So there you go, currently WCICS reps are voting to keep the Orca and allow the new Skyrc at WCICS races. It looks like it is going to pass.

From Josh "Votes are in and the majority is for the SkyRC motor, keeping the spec motor for the series. I’ll post on the forum and update the rules. To confirm, it’s ORCA or SkyRC motor, and open blinky ESC (including ORCA Spark’s). Simple.

We do need to get to the 100 unit minimum order, I don’t expect problems with that but we still need to get to that number. Cal has already posted on the CarCar thread starting a group buy, we need to get back to them ASAP so that they can build them in time for Saskatoon. They’ve nicely offered to take the orders from the individual clubs & stores. So unless one of the stores wants to step up and manage the process, here’s the direct ordering info:

Luna is the contact at [email protected] She knows that orders will be coming from various parties and once the 100 units is reached they can start building motors. Shipping will vary by order and shipping cost per item will vary.

The part number is SK-400004-05. They take PayPal! So feel free to do club group buys like CarCar, it’s all good!

I believe this was the only issue that had come up, everything else is going smoothly, Protoform as the new title sponsor, and I’m just about to order tires and send out the sponsorship renewals.

Thanks again everyone!

Josh"

So all of the mini drivers out there how many want or need the new mini motor? I need to get a list together so we can get the order in for Sept. They will be $30-35 depending on what the dollar does at the time of ordering.
