Default NASCAR summer schedule

Here is the proposed Nascar Asphalt on-road schedule for this summer season. We voted last night to make official races every second week working back from the Asphalt Attack on the weekend after the August long weekend. This gives us 7 official races plus the Asphalt Attack and the Endro in September.

This year we are also co-exisiting with the new off-road track on Saturdays. We have decided to reduce the racing to:
1. reduce costs
2. improve attendance
3. revive the points series and give people a reason to come out
4. allow for easier co-existance with dirt racing
5. have rain-out days

Here is the schedule (will be posted on the NASCAR site too):
May 2 - Points #1
May 19 - Points #2
Jun 2 - Points #3
Jun 16 - Points #4
Jun 30 - Points #5
Jul 14 - Points #6
Jul 28 - Points #7
Aug 9-11 Asphalt Attack
Sept 7-8 Nitro Enduro

Please give your feedback on this.
Also - the Asphalt Attack is our "big race." I hope to make it better than the Roar race last year without the hastles, control tires etc. I'll be sending out entry forms this weekend to BC, Alberta, Ontario etc. Since it will only be 3 days it should help to keep costs down for travelers too.

Also for Nascar we have decided to make 1/10 GAS an OPEN class this year. This is to try and encourage new people to come out. Basically it is run what you brung; we suggest non-turbo engines and sedan bodies for the experienced racers but we will not turn away any new racers or people with equipment that doesn't match the Roar rules.

Once we build the membership back up we will look at rules and splitting but the #1 goal this year is "unrestricted fun..." In the end it all works out to how well you drive anyway. If people want to be in the same heats because they have "similar" cars that is easily done.

ok, i'll add what i have.

New topics:

Storage to be built on lower part of drivers stand, there will be room for approximately 20 to 30 tables and chairs. Tables will be required to be certain dimension to maximize space this would also apply to chairs being stored there.
Volunteers: Dennis L, Robert S, and Chris H. If you would like to volunteer or
you have access to cheap materials, contact Dennis L.

3 yr lease for outdoor track to be signed soon, for more info contact Doug D

Computer system for club to run new and improved JLap, so far we have gathered the following,
PII 300 with motherboard, Dick L
128mb ram, Dick L
1.6 gig HD, Fons
4.3 gig HD, Dick L

We still need to gather

Video card
Case
Floppy drive
Cd-rom
Monitor
Keyboard and mouse

If you may have something that you can donate to the club contact Chris H, Dennis L or the race director.

We also need to build a rolling cabinet to house the new computer system along with the P.A. system. If you like to volunteer for the job contact Dennis L for details. I know of a couple of guys at the track that have very nice rolling pit boxes.

Mr Mudd and his sidekick Dirtball lol.

Default New NASCAR website

The new N.A.S.C.A.R website has been registered and will be on-line this weekend:
www.edmontonrc.com

For now if you want to see it (work in progress) http://24.86.93.74/nascar will get you there.

This is the same software I made for Hobby Direct and the off-road club (RCRE). I'll be adding more features as time goes on.

Default Club Computer requirements

SafariDog / Chammond:

A little dissapointed that I didn't know about the meeting, would have been nice to be there... you did say that you would post when it was

Anyways,
I work in the computer / IT industry and have pretty good access to everything needed. Currently sitting at home awaiting a new place to collect dust I have:

Video card
- 1 x 2Mb ?? (used to run in my Server)
- 1 x 32Mb ATI Xpert 2000 (not sure if it works though...)

Case
- 1 x Old beast tower case (19")

Floppy drive
- Can find a couple somewhere

Cd-rom
- ok... I have a 52x that's going into the wifes but . . .

Monitor
- 1 x 14" works fine at 800x600
- MIGHT be able to get a decent 17" for _cheap_ ($20-$30)

Keyboard and mouse
- Got about 8 AT style and 1 PS/2 kbds whatcha need?
- couple of mice (Serial + PS2)

Hard Drives
- I would have to go through the stack but I'm sure I could come up with a few that still work

Email me direct if any of this can be of help!
([email protected]*nocannedmeatproducts*telusplanet.net)
remove the obvious . . .

Default NASCAR and RCRE websites,

The new domain edmontonrc.com is up!

NASCAR can be reached at www.edmontonrc.com or nascar.edmontonrc.com

The RCRE site will be at rcre.edmontonrc.com

The schedule will be fixed for this weekend (its broken right now.)

Funky99 - the meeting was advertised but I agree we need to do a better job... please contact Dennis or Dick about the PC stuff.

Also - the latest version of JLAP has been installed. Hopefully there are lots of bug fixes since last year...

Chris.

Folks - the new address www.edmontonrc.com is down for a while. It seems the provider is having some issues.

For now please use http://24.86.93.74/nascar. Hopefully this will be fixed ina couple of days.

Since 1/10 gas is OPEN this year you can run whatever tires (or anything else) you want to.
