Calvin, for outdoor since the track is a lot bigger than indoors, something like a 10-12 turn motor is good. I like Reedy Ti motors. I also just got a Trinity D5 and it also seems pretty fast. I think you said you ran an 11 turn today did ya? Ya seemed to be fairly fast today, you probably could have geared up a little bit. Indoors that 11 turn will probably be a bit much at first since it's a tighter track.

For brushes Reedy Quasar's work awesome for pretty much any mod, except a few Trinity motors which use bigger brushes.

The one thing you're going to find about mod motors as compared to stocks is they require a lot more maintenance. You will have to cut the comm on them and change the brushes a lot more often than on a stock motor.

Calvin,
If you want to save some $$ and still get a good motor, just order a Reedy Ti armature from Hobby Wholesale and I'll give you a Ti can to run it in. If you want the latest and greatest the Reedy Kr (kryptonite) motors are supposed to be the ticket. If you ask arround the track, I'm sure someone would sell you a mod motor or let you try it. I agree with Ryan though, in that a 10 would be too hot for you just yet. Try a 13 -16 turn motor. Plenty fast and a bit easier on brushes and car parts!!

Calvin,
Or you could fork out the $$$ for a brushless system (aprox. 12 turn) or someone might sell you theirs. No brush/ com maintenance!!! Longer run times!!!

Roger ran a Kr today and he seemed to really like it...his car seemed pretty fast too!! Theres a first time for everything I guess!! lol

The Reedy mods and the higher end Trinity ones cost $90-100 or so...you can get a Trinity Speed Gems mod for around $50 I beleive.

If you want a Ti armature I'm going to order some from the US pretty soon and I could order you one as well....Hobby Wholesale can't order them in for some reason. The armatures are about $25-30 US.
