IROCC/NRC Speed Weekend 2011 - Carpet Edition. Trophy Race - Victoria BC
#46
One more note about hotels:
Because there is no Friday practice available, there is no need to come over until Saturday morning. This way you can save money by spending only one night in the hotel.
If you take the 7AM ferry on Saturday morning, you will arrive at the track just as the track is opening for practice at 9:30AM. We are allowing about 3.5 hours of practice time so that everyone has a chance to get their setups together.

im curious... why Spec tires for non-national/regional, FUN event?
Can I use the same hand-out tires that were used at the recent Big Chill as those are Jaco Blue Specs (with markings inside the wheel showing they were from Big Chill)?
reason: budget racer
just wondering...

Hi j86,
The reason we chose to provide a handout spec tire was simply to align with all the other bigger carpet races in the area. The Big Chill, Korgae's 360 BC Indoor Champs, the WCICS series, and others all follow these same rules. This provides a very level playing field by using non tampered-with, handout tires. No one wants to have to keep up with the racer that runs a fresh set of 22s every single run....
While it might sting to have to purchase a set of tires for $30, you'll be able to use those tires all weekend with no degradation in performance, and they'll be great for club racing after the race. And if you still have some leftover by the summer, you can use them outdoors as well.
PS. I do understand your concerns as a budget racer. If it makes the difference between you attending the race or not, I can offer you pickup from the ferry so that you can utilize the cheap "walk-on" fare. Oh, and if you need a free place to stay, send me a PM as we have a couple of IROCCers here that have volunteered some nice guest bedrooms.
I hope this helps!
