Default 04 World of Wheels

Ola,

So there are going to be some changes at this years WoW car show. The race format will be the same, 8 min heats, stock motors, total laps accumulated over the weekend will decide the winner. Entry cap of 40 racers.

What changes this year, is that we are running ozite and have 2 classes! We will have Touring cars and off-road vehicles!! So even with a entry cap of 40, you can run 2 classes!! Foam tires are recommended for the off-roaders, but if you don't have those then a micro pin will be fine(x-2000, or Fuzzie are examples). There will be individual tallies between the 2 classes. Plaques for the top 3 in each class, and dash plates for everyone else. Fee is still $10 for the weekend. That gets you your pass for the weekend plus an extra one day pass to give to someone.

The date should be Feb 21 weekend. I'll confirm that in a bit. TTYL.

Gary - what do you figure your attendance will be? I'm wondering if we need to consider shifting the Winternats (if we still can) ... Delmo needs maximum attendance to cover the building rental costs - plus we want everyone there!

I am interested in attending both. The World of Wheels was a blast last year, but I would like to attend the race in your neck of the woods. I haven't raced in the greater RedDeer area yet.
Being able to race my nitro also is a big bonus, cause at WOW you can only run 5min at a time.

We will end up selling out the WoW. We have every year, and its our major promo(avg 3500 ppl watching at any given time). I want to race at the nats more than you can imagine, but we have to be at the WoW or else we will never get back in. I hope that Del can shift it to the following weekend so we can insure max Calgary participation. I don't want to rain on the Nats, but I will have to push for our race first. Its the first year with everything being shown, so I would expect most ppl to stay here and support the show.

We will be having a meeting in early January to discuss the show and what work needs to be done. If anyone has any ?? pls feel free to ask.

All I can do is possibly go the weekend before, but it is the Regina race and I don't know what would happen if I ran then either. How many Alta guys are goin to Sask? And is it the long weekend?

From the sounds of things at the club today, all the members there will be supporting our local event on that weekend.

Too bad that Calgary will not then be represented at the Red Deer event, hope there are enough guys left in Alberta to make it work...

Would think there is some hardcore offroad guys in Calgary that would love to dust off their cars for the event in RedDeer. Where the hardcore on-road guys will take part in the World of Wheels event in their hometown.

Corwin,

there are at least 6-8 what you would call hard core off road guys here in Calgary, myself included, but for the good of our hobby in this City, and in fact Alberta, we cannot miss out on this event.
WOW is off road and on road, all about promoting the hobby.

just too bad that the Red Deer event falls on the same weekend.
I'm sure it'll be an awesome event, simply can't be in 2 places at once.......
