Let me find out how to lock this down for only the directors.

I think it should be up to the host clubs race director to enforce any penalties. However, if the RD is racing and the infraction is in the same class, the RD should pass the responsibility on to another club director.

Regarding abuse of an official. How about this?

Abuse-Screaming, Swearing at, Threats, physical contact.

If the infraction happens in qualifying dock a lap off best qualifier.
If it happens during or following the main dock the racer one position or take a lap off the main.

Any physical contact or threats of physical contact should result in disqualification and ejection from the event.

It's easy to get frustrated when you feel something has directly affected your race. Certainly we should be careful to not penalize anyone for strongly expressing their opinion.

In this particular situation, the racer did not even admit that what he did was wrong, but even got more offensive to officials. Its been decided that since this one racer seems to always detract from any event he attends, by out bursts at officials and other racers, that he is banned from competing in the series. If he wishes to appeal that decision, I'm sure we would hear him out. But given the response as to what he thinks of the series, it would be wise just to keep him away so others can enjoy the series. We can discuss this more when everyone is in Calgary in 2 weeks.

Agreed - lets discuss in Calgary.

Rob - when we spoke to him after the event and informed him we would be penalizing him he insulted the series and went on a rant about how he was right and we were wrong...

In this case I agree with Gary as I have been at other events where this guy made it very unpleasant for everyone involved.
