At the Calgary race some guys from the RedDeer club said march 3-4. May want to get an official nod on that before booking your holidays though.

Last year, I believe we ran a few 6min qualies, then 5min for the last qual and main in electric. With the advent of better battieris, I vote for going with at leat 6min. That lets my li-po's get a good work out then.

Sorry if I am being ignorant on this but I don't believe LiPoly's are allowed in racing to my knowledge based on the CORCS rules (which to my understanding is what the WN race rules are baqsed upon.) I ran electric last year and the 6 minute/ 5 minute thing messed up qualifying relults. I personally think we should stick to 5 minutes untill we standardize the race length for electric in the series to reflect that. Some drivers condition their batteries to push just over 5 minutes so asking them to change that for one race really makes no sense. Besides I would rather see guys push hard with balls to the wall speed than try to conserve like the old days for the win.

Guy's, the WN last year was still supposed to be 5min qualies. It was just setwrongand neither myself or Buddha caught the error.
Shawn, sorry man, LiPo will still not be allowed. I would love to see it become accepted but until one of the major sanctioning bodies, such as ROAR, accepts them, we won't either.
The rules for the WN are CORCS rules. No sense coming up with a new set of rules just for one event, and most of the people that run the WN's run he CORCS as well.

Thought I would test the waters on that one. Still none the less, what did we have last year, 3800's? This year will be 4200+. I think we can pull off 6min. Either way who cares?! I just cant wait to race on whatever track Ray builds! Long live Ray's Mountain!

We might discuss 6 minute's for the qualifiers. If the qualies go well with 6 minutes, then maybe do that for the mains as well. That's not anything set in stone, just something that we will talk about doing. I know I could go almost 8 minutes with my 3300's 3 years ago. My motors came off nice and warm so I was geared properly. There really shouldn't be anyy problems now.

The longer you make the mains the more you are forcing people to go out and buy the 4200's or better. I have heard a lot about people trying to grow the electric classes or racing in general. It would seem to me that you would get more guys into an electric if you don't have to shell out a bunch of money for the latest and greatest stuff just to keep up.

First Post...
I just discovered this site!!! Nice to see a Canadian perspective on the R/C scene.
I am interested in going to the Winter Nats to run my modified Revo...but I have questions. What are the classes for M/T - if any? What class would my O.S. 18TM powered truck fall into? What about the centre diff?
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I am very interested in coming. Several guys from around here are interested in attending also.
Thanks!

Darryl your right. Even still though, 6 min isn't much of a stretch for us. I ran 3300's with a 12 turn last year and didn't have any probs with with it. I think the fact that the track is so big, made for nitros, that the elec's don't seem to eat up as much juice with the track not being tight for them. 3300+ is getting to be the norm, lots of poeple are running them by now.
By the time the Winternats come around, battery technology will probably hit 5000!
Either way, I can't wait for the "nitro exhaust hangover" I had for 3 days after last year!
Hey Darryl, you gonna bring the chips again this year, and I'll handle the fruit again? Mmmmmm, thems some good eats!

Hey Jagger,
Welcome aboard. MT class is fairly standard. No limits on engines. Run what ya brung for the most part. There is a set of guide lines for the MTs that you can find on www.corcs.ca. Look in the rule book and most of your questions should be answered. Those are the rules that were followed last year regarding the event. As far as I know, most of the revos have been running the center diff in the series, so shouldn't be a problem. As long as you don't have a half gallon fuel tank and run buggy wheels you'll be good to go.
As far as the race itself, you will not regret attending, whether your an experienced racer or first timer. Don't let that intimidate you. You'll be totally hooked and looking forward to the next one before the weekend is finished.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask, at some point, somebody will get you an answer.
