Default June 5th Race Results

Hi everyone! We had an amazing first club race. 46 racers!

I'd like to thank all the early morning racers that showed up ready to go, and helped us with morning setup. I know the first thing everyone wants to do is get their pits ready and cars charging, but it really makes a difference when everyone steps up to help with setup. If you don't know how to help, please ask someone or just simply observe. It goes a long way that the morning setup crew have the momentum of help compared to seeing everyone at their pits wrenching while they're volunteering their hard efforts.

We welcomed another handful of new racers joining us in the passion of RC Racing. Our novice class is proving to be welcoming and gentle. Thank you to the 1:8 racers that helped marshal the novice races and the race after. We welcome volunteers to help marshal the race following the novice heats as well.

We planned for a rain delay, hoped for sunshine, and lucked out with 98% awesome weather. We did run late, but the majority of racers were ok to run instead of cancelling a round of qualifying.

Our goal is to maximize run time, minimize wait time, and to run on schedule. We're calling on all racers to be ready for their race heats (we now have a monitor display so you can check easier). Please be ready for your race heat by waiting behind the drivers stand area. Nitro cars can warm up in the back lot if needed, to not distract the electric classes. After your race, please immediately return to the track for marshal duties, you're expected to be trackside for practice laps and timed laps for the race after yours.

As the entries increase and the club grows, we have a few ideas to shorten the race day if we continue to run late. But we all want more run time, so let's work on everyone being ready for their race and back on track to marshal to start.
Idea 1: For nitro classes, we can look at shortening heats to match electric classes. Currently Electric is 2 min warmup + 5 min race, Nitro is 4 min warmup + 5 min race, and on days we're on time, double nitro mains. 4 min Nitro heats would bring the running time closer, and allow us to run the cars hard without running lean/running out of fuel. It is already adapted in some California tracks.
Idea 2: Round 1 is 3 minute qualifiers all classes just to shake down, then regular Round 2,3,4 5 minute race heats.

If you're back to back, please ask a fellow racer to cover your marshal duties. If you're running too many classes and finding it hard to maintain the cars or marshal, it may be worth considering running one less class to optimize your racing performance and ability to work your marshal duties.
If you have any questions or concerns for us, please post them or message them. We are always growing and striving to be a better club.

Sadly, our club is enjoying a high count of racers at a time where we have to turn away people once we're at 50. Please work with us and understand that we are only doing this as required by the law, and hoping to keep the momentum going for the next season without COVID-19.

Race results attached below, it was great to see all classes having healthy numbers. Good friendly competition all around - Looking forward to the next race.

Default June 19th Race Results

WOW 74 entries! Thank you everyone for attending. We are so lucky to be able to safely race together and have a great time on and off the track.
Early morning arrivals, thank you for helping with setup, it is very much appreciated - same for teardown helpers.

It is incredible that we've gotten to so many entries, racers, and new racers. We've put in many years of work to get here and we love hearing about the great times that everyone is having here.
Welcome again to the new racers joining us. New and long time racers, please ask around for advice or help whenever you need it, everyone is happy to help out and get you up to speed. Don't be shy!

Housekeeping notes:
-great work on being ready for your races, we ran a quick paced race and finished on time
-the lot is staying clean, please continue to take your garbage home and pickup your pit areas
-nitro racers, warm up behind the drivers stand if it is not your race. pit lane is for racers in that heat only
-nitro heats first is helping avoid distracting electric races on track, as well as gives electric more charging time

As discussed during drivers meeting, when it comes to the 50 person cap, it is the most fair to give racer registration to "first come, first served". I am always happy to pre-register late arrivals, as I've done so in the past.
Unfortunately when we reach the cap, the pre-registrations will be last to be added. Let's hope the July 1st Phase 3 allows for a higher capacity, should we need it.

Lots of great racing in all classes, the competition is going getting stronger with veteran drivers running scale spec and TC Stock to give racers something to strive for. The nitro field is slowly growing, with a healthy 1/8 open class showing us what the fastest laps truly are. GT8 drivers give a great show, but need to be ready to race on the tone, every race had slow starters - reach out to more experienced nitro racers if you'd like tips on tuning or preparing for the races.

RACE DATE CHANGE: July 10th is being moved to July 3rd, with possibly adding July 4th for a double-day weekend.

We are doing a double-day weekend July 3rd and 4th!

Friday night setup 6PM and even practice if there's enough hands on site.

It will be test and tune mornings with racing in the afternoons, operated as two separate club races.

We are still limited to 50 racers on site until the BC Government announces an increase in outdoor gathering capacities(Expected and hoping on July 1st). First come first served, including anyone outside of the Greater Vancouver area.

Reminder that your Participation Agreements and Liability Waivers are only required to be submitted once for the season, but you must have one submitted to be on site in pits or on the track.

Default Club Races July 3rd and 4th

Alright, RRR capacity is now expanded, no more worries of max 50.

Setup Friday 6PM
if we get enough help we will fully setup and have practice

Both Saturday and Sunday will have extended controlled practice then qualifiers and mains.

See you then!

Liability waivers and participation agreements still required, masks recommended.

Social distancing still a good idea, letís keep everyone comfortable and most importantly, safe.

Default July 3rd and 4th Race Results

Thank you guys for an amazing weekend. What perfect timing to have a 120+ entry weekend.

Big props to the Friday setup crew, we had a head start and definitely needed it.

We worked hard at keeping fast paced and fun day to compress all four rounds into Saturday, thanks everyone for being on time for your race, and those that didn't quite but still made the most of their runs.
There's a photo going around of the father-son novice teams, what a great shot! All of our novices are getting in good track time and improving every race.

Sunday racing was very refreshing, with ample practice sessions between rounds, a lunch break, and to be finished by 4:30, getting our Victoria racers on their scheduled boat. (Yes, they've been warned to take a later boat for a "normal" club race)

Teardown, we know it's a bit of waiting, but please stick around till the end to keep the workload low. Thanks for those that helped, we still got it done quickly.

Announcement: July 31st - Aug 1st Long Weekend, we are bringing back the RRR Summer Challenge Trophy Race. It will be a two day event, with Practice and Qualifying Saturday, Last Chance Qualifier and Mains on Sunday.
We were originally going to have double club race this weekend, but thanks to some recently donated trophies to repurpose, we thought why not, lets go for it!

Date Change: July 24 will be moved to July 17th to space out the race weekends a bit better and to give us some time to prepare for the trophy race. Sorry if it affects your summer calendar!

Default 7/17 Race Results

Lots of great racing this past week where everyone is preparing their cars for the trophy race.

Novice drivers continuing to improve, the GT8 cars getting on track, and the stiff competition in ss and tc stock.

Our first round of pitstops has come and gone, with newer drivers learning what to do while waiting for fuel, and others scrambling to find someone to pit for them.

Trophy Race July 30-Aug 1st
