Default June 5th Race Results

Hi everyone! We had an amazing first club race. 46 racers!

I'd like to thank all the early morning racers that showed up ready to go, and helped us with morning setup. I know the first thing everyone wants to do is get their pits ready and cars charging, but it really makes a difference when everyone steps up to help with setup. If you don't know how to help, please ask someone or just simply observe. It goes a long way that the morning setup crew have the momentum of help compared to seeing everyone at their pits wrenching while they're volunteering their hard efforts.

We welcomed another handful of new racers joining us in the passion of RC Racing. Our novice class is proving to be welcoming and gentle. Thank you to the 1:8 racers that helped marshal the novice races and the race after. We welcome volunteers to help marshal the race following the novice heats as well.

We planned for a rain delay, hoped for sunshine, and lucked out with 98% awesome weather. We did run late, but the majority of racers were ok to run instead of cancelling a round of qualifying.

Our goal is to maximize run time, minimize wait time, and to run on schedule. We're calling on all racers to be ready for their race heats (we now have a monitor display so you can check easier). Please be ready for your race heat by waiting behind the drivers stand area. Nitro cars can warm up in the back lot if needed, to not distract the electric classes. After your race, please immediately return to the track for marshal duties, you're expected to be trackside for practice laps and timed laps for the race after yours.

As the entries increase and the club grows, we have a few ideas to shorten the race day if we continue to run late. But we all want more run time, so let's work on everyone being ready for their race and back on track to marshal to start.
Idea 1: For nitro classes, we can look at shortening heats to match electric classes. Currently Electric is 2 min warmup + 5 min race, Nitro is 4 min warmup + 5 min race, and on days we're on time, double nitro mains. 4 min Nitro heats would bring the running time closer, and allow us to run the cars hard without running lean/running out of fuel. It is already adapted in some California tracks.
Idea 2: Round 1 is 3 minute qualifiers all classes just to shake down, then regular Round 2,3,4 5 minute race heats.

If you're back to back, please ask a fellow racer to cover your marshal duties. If you're running too many classes and finding it hard to maintain the cars or marshal, it may be worth considering running one less class to optimize your racing performance and ability to work your marshal duties.
If you have any questions or concerns for us, please post them or message them. We are always growing and striving to be a better club.

Sadly, our club is enjoying a high count of racers at a time where we have to turn away people once we're at 50. Please work with us and understand that we are only doing this as required by the law, and hoping to keep the momentum going for the next season without COVID-19.

Race results attached below, it was great to see all classes having healthy numbers. Good friendly competition all around - Looking forward to the next race.
