Default Race Report

The 2019/2020 Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series kicked off the new season in the beautiful city of Edmonton. The race was hosted by the NASCAR club and held in the Alberta Aviation Museum's hangar put on by a great team of volunteers. Support was strong from around the province of Alberta and its neighbouring province of Saskatchewan. Five core classes were ran along with the Eurotruck demo class. The weekend consisted of 3 rounds of qualifying and triple mains for every class.

In the premier class of Touring Modified, Chris Jackman took the wins in both A1 and A2 for the overall win, despite starting 3rd on the grid. Dennis Beck wasn’t far behind with A1 and A2 second place finishes for second overall. Ivan Chan was able to put in some decent runs for third overall. TQ Lance Radke unfortunately didn’t have luck on his side in A1 and A2 but did win A3 to finish fourth overall.

In Touring Stock, it came down to A3 for the big decider. In the end, Chris Jackman would win A3 with less than a second margin for the overall win. Lance Radke was close but had to settle for second overall followed by TQ Dennis Beck who made a few mistakes to relegate him to third overall.

In the very popular Spec Scale class, TQ Dennis Beck would dominate all weekend in qualifying and win both A1 and A2 for the overall win. The next 2 positions on the podium would be contested fiercely with needing A3 for the decider. In the end, Walter Slany would finish ahead of Jeff Rolls in A3 to finish second and third overall respectively.

In 12th Scale Stock, Lance Radke had dominated qualifying and hoped to maintain his momentum in the mains by winning A1. Tyler Reil had other ideas by winning A2. It came down to A3 with Lance Radke finishing a half lap ahead of Tyler Reil for first and second overall. Rob McCaskill was able to put in consistent finishes for third overall.

In F1, Anthony Mari would TQ, out qualify and beat last year’s class champion Steve Wiens by winning A1 and A2. Steve would hold off any other challengers in A3 and win it to finish second overall with Chris Jackman rounding out the podium.

In the Eurotruck demo class, TQ Jeff Fisher would win all 3 mains for the overall win. Steven Wiens tried hard but would have to settle for second with Jon Werkman rounding out the podium in third overall.

Round 2 of the championships will be held in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, hosted by IRTC from October 25-27, 2019.
