Default 14th Annual Northstar Classic (Dec. 7-9)

The Northern Mini Racers are happy to be putting on the 14th Annual Northstar Classic. It will be in the same location as the previous few years, the Minot Auditorium. Last year was the first year we taped under the carpet so we did not have any tape seams to deal with! We will be doing that same procedure this year! Come battle with racers from several states and provinces in the well lit, 94 x 50 track! See the attached flyer for details.

Motor info:

Last night at the meeting we discussed the motor situation that we are facing. There is some re-testing going on in regards the Monster Max and its ROAR approval. There is specualation that the approval will be pulled December 1st. In regards to the Northern Mini Racers, we as a club will continue to allow it to race at the Northstar Classic regardless of what ROAR decides.

In regards to some of the new motors that are out (ex. R1 V21, Trinity X Factor, Motiv MC3, Fantom Icon etc.). If they are not on the approval list prior to Northstar they will not be allowed at that race. The group has decided that as long as they are on the list prior to the qualifiers beginning on December 8th, they will be allowed to run. Racers please plan accordingly on this. Thank you.

So after returning from Canada this past weekend, sounds like we will have a strong representation from our northern neighbors at northstar this year!! I was asked if we would run mod touring as most of them run that and stock touring. There will not be any trophies for that class but if there are 5 who want to run them that weekend we will run them. It will take 5 though and no less to make sure we can cover turn marshalling duties. Hope to see everyone in a couple weeks!!

Couple of notes for those planning to attend:

Friday Practice - based on how things went last year and the fact we will follow the same schedule this year, practice should be open by noon on Friday.

F1 - We run the US rules which use a 25.5 motor for this class. I know some parts of Canada use 21.5 so for those planning to run f1 be prepared for the rule difference and plan accordingly.

Tires - This is a bring your own tire event. We will not have any tires for sale at this race. We are pretty flexible for touring in that we allow Gravity Type C, Jaco Blue, Sweep 32's, and the Sweep black carpet tire the WCICS uses. So you will be able to run any of those that you like. In 1/12th we allow either the CRC/BSR purple stripe, or the JFT blue stripe. Those are the only two spec tires allowed for the 17.5 class. 13.5 1/12th is open tire. Rob "mortal combat" McQuarrie may have some tires along for sale. Contact him ahead of time to line something up if you need them.

Any questions just let me know. Thanks

As we continue with preparations for Northstar I thought it was time to let everyone know we have reservations at Plant Pizza on Saturday night. In the past everyone has tried to figure out were to go for supper so this will take care of that. We will make sure to be done racing at 6:30 pm so that everyone can get to supper which is just down the street from the track! They have an arcade for those bringing their families along and also serve adult beverages for those who want them. So all racers and their families are welcome to join us!! The track will remain open for practice during that time for those who do not wish to go for pizza.

We are only 3.5 hours away from setup starting for Northstar! All racers need to make sure they are using a pit mat to protect the tables! Thanks

What a weekend! Thank you to all the club members for helping out making this one happen yet again. I think we put down the best track yet for this event. Carpet was smooth, no tape lines, good layout, great racing!! Attached are the results from the mains. Was great to have the Canadians in the house again this year, along with the guys from Montana and South Dakota! Huge thank you to all of our sponsors for this year again! 41 drivers and exactly 100 enries.
