Default Ready to Run Raceway 2018 Summer OnRoad Racing - Vancouver RRR

It's 2018 and I'm excited to run Nitro. This year we are going BIG.
I'm talking 1/8 Open, 1/8 GT cars showing up in addition to the big field of 1/10 cars.

We did our best to minimize conflicts with CAMRC offroad racing schedule, and this may cause issues with other race dates regionally ie Victoria, Seattle, Kamloops - we will revise as needed through the season.

Please read the following details and use this thread to check race results and to keep racers talking!

Location:

BCIT Aerospace and Technology Campus
3800 Cessna Drive, Richmond, BC.

We are in the South Lot, the gates should be open year long for racing, accessible through both the main BCIT entrance and the north-bound Russ Baker Way entrance.

Click This to get Directions - We finally made it onto Google Earth.

Bring your own tables, chairs and canopies. There may be some canopy space for those without.

No washrooms on site. There is a McDonalds 1 minute away. Parking is included with race entries, we are charged per person racing.

There is shared power available with the club generator, the first 10 racers without power may tap in for $2 for the day or free with second class entry.

Default May 12 Race Results

What a fantastic start to our season. It was a very hot day, but we didn't feel it because of the wind - our cars and tents were a different story though. Roughly 50 entries, I'll take it!

We had a few new faces to RRR: welcome Stephen Wilke, Kevin Lynch and a few spectators with their families! Blake, Earl, Justin and Luke our out of town racers making the trek, thank you! Glad to see all of our club racers make the effort as well for early setup.

Eddie, Terry, Chuck, Stephen, Eric, Bok Choi and I went for the full setup to give us a smooth morning - look forward to more setup work in the mornings to come. Please make the effort to help setup in the mornings for more practice time throughout the day.

Onto the racing, it was great to see all classes run. Bring out your cars and and enjoy them!

Scale Spec could use a better showing of the coolest bodies on track. Euro Truck drivers, bring them out and we can combo class with scale spec or on their own once we have 4+. The replacement bodies(body, stickers, mirrors) have been released and are only about $20 more than a regular touring car body so the worry of $80 bodies is over. The F1 class is moving along now, and looks like more F1's are to come. I'm happy to see the Nitro classes are healthy, and a reminder we are keeping 1/8 cars to experienced drivers only for safety and track integrity. Touring Mod and Stock were the very competitive shows throughout the day, as the electric cars continue to progress past the Nitro cars.

Results attached

Next Race is May 26 - Please come help setup Saturday morning, and have a great race!

I will be racing at the Tamiya Track in California for the 2018 Reedy Race of Champions, Wish me luck

It feels great to be back outside on pavement!

Also want to give a big shout out to Earl, who drives all the way out from Kelowna, on the regular.

To John & the rest attending the Reedy Race of Champions, have fun and best of luck! We'll keep things running while you're away.

- Chuck
